Nissan is set to expand its Indian lineup with two models, previewed at its Global Product Showcase Event in Yokohama, Japan. First on the list is a three-row MPV, based on the CMF-A platform, which also underpins the Renault Triber. This Nissan B-MPV will go on sale here sometime later this year. In addition, Nissan will introduce a compact SUV by FY2026 that will sit on the CMF-B platform (also found in the new Renault Duster). Both vehicles will be manufactured locally at Nissan's Chennai facility, underlining the company’s strong focus on India’s automotive market.

Nissan MPV Teaser: What We Can Expect

While sharing the same platform, the Nissan MPV will distinguish itself from its Renault counterpart with a redesigned front-end that features a striking new look. The headlight clusters appear to be linked by a slender chrome strip, while a larger grille adds to the model's assertive stance. The front bumper is accentuated with prominent C-shaped elements, and roof rails enhance its rugged appeal.

The interior details remain under wraps in the latest teaser, but speculations suggest the new Nissan MPV will keep the 7-seat modular configuration found in its Renault counterpart. On the comfort and convenience front, the MPV is expected to feature auto climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and cruise control, among other modern amenities. In terms of safety, the car is likely to come equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a 360-degree camera, six airbags as standard, and electronic stability control (ESC).

Nissan has yet to disclose the mechanical details of its upcoming MPV. However, given that the model is based on the same platform as the Renault Triber MPV, it's likely to have an identical powertrain. The Triber is offered with a 1-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 71bhp and 96Nm and is paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).

In terms of price, the new Nissan MPV is expected to cost more than its Renault counterpart, which starts at Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Nissan Compact SUV

The new compact SUV from Nissan is expected to sport a sharp design with L-shaped LED DRLs, dual chrome strips across the front, and rugged alloy wheels. The feature list will likely include a 10.1-inch touchscreen and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
