Q5L debuts as Audi’s first long wheelbase SUV

Audi has recently unveiled the new Q5L at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show, which stretches the standard Q5’s wheelbase by 88mm to offer a lot more rear legroom.
The long version of the mid-size Audi SUV is aimed specifically at customers in China. Audi currently offers three models with an extended wheelbase – A4L, A6L and A8L – and now, the Q5L is being added to the list as the first SUV from the brand in a longer avatar.
As is apparent, the benefits of the added length will be enjoyed by passengers in the rear seat, who gain an additional 110mm of knee room. Depending on the position of the rear seat system, the volume of the luggage compartment remains unchanged at 550 to 1,550 litres.
The standard engine in the Audi Q5L is the 4-cylinder, 2.0-litre TFSI. It is available in either 187bhp or 248bhp state of tune and can accelerate from 0 to100km/h in 8.6 or 6.7 seconds, respectively. A standard 7-speed S tronic transfers the power to the quattro AWD system.
Buyers of the Q5L can choose between the Vogue, Lifestyle, Design, Sport and Sport plus equipment lines, depending on the engine. Audi’s pre sense basic and Audi pre sense city safety systems come standard in all lines. In addition, there are assistance packages for the city and for suburban streets. Starting with the Lifestyle line, LED headlights are available as an option along with the Matrix LED technology.
Sales of the Q5L will begin in China in summer 2018.
