Renault Triber may get a 99bhp turbo-petrol engine, offering better performance and a stronger driving experience for family buyers.

Renault is upgrading the Triber line-up by integrating a factory-fitted CNG system and other being a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. This transition involves the use of the Renault Global Entry Platform (RGEP), which replaces the previous CMF-A architecture. The engineering focus centres on the underbody placement of the dual-cylinder CNG tanks. By mounting these cylinders within the chassis floor rather than the cabin, Renault maintains the centre of gravity and preserves the boot volume. This packaging solution ensures that the utility of the three-row MPV remains unaffected by the fuel storage hardware.

Performance gains will come from the HR10 three-cylinder turbocharged unit sourced from the Kiger. This engine delivers 99bhp and 160Nm of torque, providing an increase in power-to-weight ratio compared to the naturally aspirated motor. This engine provides peak torque lower in the rev range, which assists drivability when the vehicle carries a full passenger load.

The RGEP architecture will introduce a revised electronic framework and modified suspension mounting points to manage the weight of the CNG tanks. While the exterior silhouette is expected to remain the same as the current model, the under-the-skin changes allow for integration of alternative fuel systems and safety compliance. These updates target the limitations found in aftermarket conversions.

Inside, the modular seating system will continue to offer multiple configurations for passengers and cargo. Because the CNG hardware resides outside the cabin, the floor is expected to remain flat, and the storage dimensions are unchanged. This will enable the vehicle to function as a long-distance tourer without the need for external roof carriers.
Renault expects to debut this version at the next Auto Expo. The turbo-petrol and the CNG versions will also be extended to the Kiger SUV to standardise the powertrain across the range. Details regarding the manual and CVT gearbox pairings will be confirmed at the official launch.
