Skoda Kodiaq facelift launch on 14th Jan

The facelifted Skoda Kodiaq will set foot in India by mid-January. Skoda has already started the production of the new SUV at its Aurangabad facility and some dealerships have started accepting bookings for the upcoming SUV.

Skoda’s first product for the year 2022 will be the Kodiaq facelift. The updated seven-seater SUV will be launched in India on January 14, 2022. The variant lineup will include Style, Sportline and the top-of-the-line Laurin and Klement (L&K). The Skoda Kodiaq Scout which is a more rough-road friendly variant of the SUV will not be launched so soon.

Skoda India has started accepting bookings for the new Kodiaq which is likely to be priced from Rs. 36 lakh (ex-showroom) marker. The Kodiaq will be sold via the CKD route and Skoda will assemble the SUV at its facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

The SUV will be offered only with a petrol powertrain, however, there are a few variants which are on sale in the European markets sporting a diesel motor, but Skoda will not offer that drivetrain here.

What we will get is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor which powers the Skoda Octavia, Superb, newly launched Volkswagen Tiguan. The power figures will be 188bhp and 320Nm and all of that will be sent to all the wheels because the Kodiaq will continue with an all-wheel-drive system. The Kodiaq will feature a panoramic sunroof, electric driver’s seat, all-digital cockpit, and LED adaptive headlamps as well.

The key rivals of the new Skoda Kodiaq will be the Mahindra Alturas G4, Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. The SUV would have rivals the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and the Ford Endeavour, but sadly, these two aren’t on sale anymore.
