Tata Motors will unveil the Tata Punch facelift on January 13, 2026, and this update brings a change many car buyers have been waiting for. A recent teaser confirms the i-Turbo badge on the tailgate, clearly pointing to a new turbo-petrol engine for the micro-SUV. The Punch has already posted strong volumes in its segment, especially in cities where compact size matters.
This facelift looks aimed at widening that base by adding more power without changing the core appeal. More power, same footprint, and the same urban-friendly approach could make this facelift more relevant to buyers who want extra performance.

The Punch i-Turbo will use the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine sourced from the Altroz Racer. This unit on the Altorz Racer produces 118bhp at 5,500rpm and 170Nm of torque between 1,750 and 4,000rpm. Spotted in the teaser video, the six-speed manual gearbox will send power to the front wheels. On paper, this setup clearly sits above the standard Punch variants and should deliver a noticeable jump in performance for daily driving.
Existing versions of the Punch will continue unchanged. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine stays, making 88bhp and 115Nm. The CNG option will also remain on sale with 73.5bhp and 103Nm, offered with five-speed manual and AMT gearboxes. With the turbo engine soon to be added, the Punch range will become more layered, giving buyers clearer choices based on power needs, fuel type and running costs.
The focus now shifts to how the turbo Punch performs in real-world use. Tata Motors is expected to tune the engine for usable low-end torque and strong highway behaviour. The six-speed gearbox should help keep engine speeds lower during cruising, which may improve long-distance comfort while keeping the Punch easy to drive in traffic.

The Tata Punch i-Turbo is expected to be priced between Rs 10–11 lakh ex-showroom. This places it against turbo versions of the Hyundai Exter and Maruti Fronx. The Punch facelift will launch on 13 January, with test drives and deliveries expected soon after.
