Tata Motors has returned to South Africa after nearly six years, following its exit in 2019. The company has partnered with Motus Holdings Ltd., a prominent distributor in South Africa, and launched four models in the region, including the Punch SUV and the Tiago hatchback. This move marks a significant milestone in Tata Motors’ global expansion strategy. Moreover, the partnership with Motus Holdings ensures access to a well-established and growing dealer network in the market, backed by reliable after-sales support and a customer-centric approach. Initially, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) will have a network of 40 dealerships in South Africa. The company plans to expand this network to 60 outlets by 2026.
Speaking at the launch, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, 'Our return to South Africa marks a significant milestone in Tata Motors’ global journey. We are excited to bring our new generation of vehicles—engineered with cutting-edge technology, uncompromising safety, and modern design—to a market that values safety, quality, and innovation.'
