The Tata Safari and the Tata Harrier now get a new variant that is priced right in between the current variants on offer. The new variants are based on the already existing XT+ variant of the respective SUVs.

The Tata Safari and the Tata Harrier have been launched with a new mid-spec XTA+ variant. With the addition of the new variant, both the SUVs now get the convenience of a six-speed automatic transmission along with the features and trims of the XT+ variant. Additionally, Tata Motors has added a panoramic sunroof to the feature list. The Harrier gets the benefits of the new XTA+ variant with its recently launched Dark edition as well.

The price for the XTA+ variant of the Harrier and the Safari is as follows:

Tata Harrier XTA+ - Rs 19.14 lakh (ex-showroom)

Tata Harrier Dark XTA+ - Rs 19.34 lakh (ex-showroom)

Tata Safari XTA+ - Rs 20.08 lakh (ex-showroom)

Along with the addition of an automatic gearbox and a sunroof, both the Harrier and the Safari continue to be the same as the other XT+ models in the line-up. The engine is the same FCA source 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder motor that pushes out 167bhp at 3,750rpm and 350Nm between 1,750-2,500rpm.

Tata claims that the Safari and Harrier are collectively leading the SUV segment with a 41.2 per cent market share as of Q1 FY22. The key rivals to the Tata Safari are the MG Hector Plus and the Hyundai Alcazar. The highly anticipated Mahindra XUV700 – which will be showcased soon – will most likely eat into the market share of the Tata Safari.

The Tata Harrier mainly rivals MG Hector. The pricing of a few variants of the Tata Harrier also overlaps with the Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos.
