Tesla has launched the Long Wheelbase version of the Model Y in India at Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Compared to the standard Model Y, the stretched version is Rs 2.10 lakh more expensive, but it undercuts the Long-Range variant by Rs 5.90 lakh. The Tesla Model Y Long Wheelbase is positioned to bridge a gap in the existing lineup as a mid-spec option, and has a six-seat configuration as well as a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, which is the first for India. The new mid-tier option called the Model Y L Premium has a 3,040mm wheelbase, which allows for a 2+2+2 seating layout with captain chairs in the middle row. Compared to the standard version, which has a 2,890mm of wheelbase, this is an increase of 150mm. Apart from this, the new Model Y Long Wheelbase with AWD setup offers more range at 681 kilometres, compared to the existing Standard and Long-Range models, which offer 500 kilometres and 661 kilometres, respectively.

While the top speed remains unchanged at 201km/h, the acceleration time among the three models differs. For instance, the new Long Wheelbase AWD version has a 0 to 100km/h sprint time of 5 seconds, while the Standard RWD variant completes the same run in 5.9 seconds. Meanwhile, the Long Range RWD model can cover the exact distance in 5.6 seconds.
The car also benefits from faster charging capability, which enables it to gain up to 288km of range in just 15 minutes when plugged into a Tesla Supercharger.
Other key highlights of the Model Y Long Wheelbase include increased length (4,969mm) and height (1,668mm), a bit higher ground clearance (169mm), new 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, larger quarter glass, a revised roofline, and a more prominent rear spoiler. longer rear doors, multilink suspension setup with adaptive electronic damping and multiple drive modes, 18-speaker audio system and front seats with extendable thigh support.
