As technology developed globally, automatic transmissions became common even in the lower segments of the Indian automotive market. Cars with ATs can be very helpful, especially if you’re driving in extremely crowded cities like Mumbai or Bengaluru. So, we bring you the top five cars with automatic transmissions that you can get for under Rs 10 lakh in India

 

Maruti Suzuki Ignis

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis is a perfect example of a fun city car. Its AMT version (the Delta variant) starts at Rs 6.41 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. The car gets a 1.2-litre engine, which puts out  82 bhp @ 6000 rpm and 113 Nm @ 4200 rpm. Maruti Suzuki claims that the car will return a mileage of 20.8km/l and will be available in six colour options, including Turquoise Blue, Nexa Blue, Glistening Grey, Silky Silver, Lucent Orange, and Pearl Arctic White.

In terms of features, the car gets LED projector headlamps (with daytime running lamps), 15-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), and automatic climate control. Safety features come in the form of front airbags, ABS with EBD, and standard rear parking sensors.

Tata Tiago

The Tiago has been one of the most successful models for Tata in the hatchback segment in India. The car comes with a neat proportionate design and an interior to match the same level of fit and finish. In terms of powertrain, the car comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that delivers 84.8bhp and 113Nm through a 5-speed AMT. 

In terms of features, the car gets projector headlights with LED DRLs, 15-inch alloy wheels, a rear defogger with wiper and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets an 8-speaker Harman sound system, automatic climate control, and a cooled glovebox.

The safety list of the car includes dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, and cornering stability control.

Tata Punch

Prices for the AMT version of Tata Punch start at Rs 7.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The car comes with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated Revotron petrol engine, which produces 84bhp and 113Nm of torque. The motor sends power to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox or an AMT unit.

In terms of features, the car gets a 7.0-inch Harman-sourced touchscreen infotainment system, a digital-analogue instrument cluster, a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, cruise control, automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls, rectangular AC vents with contrast coloured accents, drive modes (City and Eco), iRA technology, and a height-adjustable driver seat.

Its safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and a rear parking camera.

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios

Prices for the automatic variants of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios start at Rs 6.77 lakh (ex-showroom). The car is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine, which delivers 82bhp and 114Nm of torque through a 5-speed AMT. The car can also be had with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit, which outputs 98bhp and 172Nm of torque. However, this engine only comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The car’s feature list is quite comprehensive and includes an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, auto AC with rear AC vents, keyless entry, and a height-adjustable driver seat. The Corporate Edition features a 6.75-inch infotainment system and electric folding ORVMs.

The standard safety features of the car include dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, and ABS with EBD.

Maruti Suzuki Swift

The Swift is one of the most popular badges for Maruti Suzuki. It's powered by a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine, which delivers 88bhp and 113Nm of torque through a 5-speed AMT.

In terms of features, It comes with cruise control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a height-adjustable driver seat, auto AC, and LED headlamps with LED DRLs.

The car’s safety net includes electronic stability control (AMT only), hill hold control (AMT only), dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
