Upcoming Volkswagen Virtus spied up close

We just can’t wait to see the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus in the final production form! The sedan will break cover in the coming weeks and the launch is slated for the festive season.

Despite the confirmation of launch, Volkswagen is still testing the upcoming Virtus. A test mule has been spotted on the outskirts of Pune, where the firm has its production facility. The sedan will spawn with similar features as the Slavia, however, due to the semiconductor shortage, there might be cutting of corners in terms of its features list.

Recently, the respective manufacturers deleted the auto-folding mirrors from the Volkswagen Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq as the chip shortage grew severe. There might be a deletion of some of the features from the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus, or the German giant could just push the India debut of the new sedan ahead by some months, however, these are just speculations. 

The mechanicals will be the same as the Skoda Slavia. A 1.0-litre three-pot turbo-motor and VW’s 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI EVO engine will be on offer. The gearbox options will include a six-speed manual, six-speed torque convertor and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

One key element which was observed on the test mule is the all-LED fog lamps. Just as the Taigun, the Virtus may be offered with a GT version which will be more included towards spirited driving. Similarly, the Slavia and the Kushaq, both, are likely to get the Monte Carlo editions at a later stage.
