Volkswagen will launch the new Taigun in India on April 9, 2026. The company has already revealed the design of the mid-size SUV and commenced its production at the Chakan facility in Pune. The new Taigun is expected to command a slight premium over the current model, which is priced between Rs 11.42 lakh and Rs 19.18 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will continue to lock horns with key players in the segment, including the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Tata Sierra, MG Astor, and Renault Duster.

Volkswagen has offered a noticeable update to the Taigun in terms of the exterior, making it look sharper and more modern. The front fascia is now sleeker, with redesigned headlamps connected by a slim LED light bar. The grille is also new, with an illuminated logo. There are chrome accents on the bumper and a silver skid plate, which add to the contrast. The facelifted Taigun also features chrome door handles, alloy wheels, and silver roof rails. It is expected to get connected LED taillamps and an illuminated logo at the rear.
Volkswagen hasn’t revealed feature upgrades for the new Taigun, but it is anticipated that the updated model will get a revised colour scheme and new upholstery. It may also come equipped with amenities found on the recently updated Kushaq, including a rear seat massage function.

The facelift is further likely to add a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system to its equipment list. That said, the new Taigun will continue to have a six-speaker audio unit, ambient lighting, cruise control, and a wireless phone charger. For safety, the SUV will likely include rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera.
The Taigun will likely retain its engine options, including the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (113.4bhp/178Nm) and the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (148bhp/250Nm). When it comes to the gearbox, Volkswagen could enhance the driving experience by introducing an 8-speed automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre unit, replacing the current 6-speed gearbox. The 1.5-litre engine will continue with the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
