Volvo XC90 Facelift

The Volvo XC90 and the Audi Q7 have received notable updates, yet their core designs remain largely unchanged. Audi revamped the Q7 last year, while Volvo recently introduced the refreshed XC90 in India. Following the updates, both SUVs now come with a richer set of features and an upgraded, more technology-focused experience. Here’s an in-depth comparison of the two premium SUVs to determine which one offers superior value for money.

Volvo XC90 vs Audi Q7: Design

The redesigned Volvo XC90 maintains its signature silhouette while introducing subtle yet impactful design updates for a more contemporary feel. Key changes include a redesigned grille with diagonal slats, sleeker 'Thor' hammer headlights, and a revamped front bumper featuring vertical air dams. The profile stays mostly the same, aside from the newly refreshed alloy wheels. At the rear, the vertical light signature is reimagined with a bold split design, giving the SUV a more modern edge. Additionally, a new Mulberry Red paint option has been added to the existing palette, which includes Crystal White, Onyx Black, Vapour Grey, Denim Blue, and Bright Dusk.

The Audi Q7 has also undergone subtle design changes for a more sophisticated appearance. The updated grille now boasts vertical chrome accents, while the HD Matrix LED headlights are enhanced with new digital DRLs. The front bumper has been reworked with fresher air intakes, and though the profile largely stays the same, it is now complemented by newly designed 19-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the taillights feature updated LED elements. The Q7 is available in five updated colour options, including Mythos Black, Sakhir Gold, Waitomo Blue, Samurai Grey, and Glacier White. While both SUVs maintain their iconic design foundations, these modern refinements elevate their overall presence and style.

Volvo XC90 vs Audi Q7: Powertrain

The Volvo XC90 and Audi Q7 have distinct powertrains. The XC90 features a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with mild-hybrid technology, generating 247bhp of power and 360Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Audi Q7 houses a more powerful 3-litre V6 turbo-petrol engine, delivering 335bhp and 500Nm of torque—an impressive increase of nearly 88bhp and 150Nm over the XC90. Both SUVs are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, ensuring smooth and efficient power delivery.

Volvo XC90 vs Audi Q7: Features

Volvo XC90 Facelift Interior

Both the Volvo XC90 and Audi Q7 offer a robust set of features. However, the XC90 stands out with its emphasis on safety, featuring Level 2 ADAS technologies like lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and a collision avoidance system. On the other hand, while the Audi Q7 lacks seat ventilation and a head-up display, it compensates with an extra touchscreen for climate control, enhancing its tech appeal. However, the Audi SUV falls short by not offering wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which the XC90 does provide.
