Volkswagen Ameo GT Line launched

Priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) the Volkswagen Ameo GT Line will only be available with the 1.5-litre diesel motor and 7-speed DSG combination. Just like the Polo and Vento GT Line, this one gets cosmetic updates too

Just two weeks ago, Volkswagen brought face-lifted versions of the Polo and Vento and introduced the new range-topping GT Line trim of the two cars. The company has now brought in the Ameo in the GT Line trim as well and it is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars said, “Stylish on the outside, powerful on the inside, the new Ameo GT Line edition with its advanced features lets you experience the fun-to-drive dynamics of the carline. In addition, with our 4EVER care program and a new 5-year warranty on the diesel variant, customers are offered a robust sales and after-sales package from Volkswagen.”

The Ameo GT Line is only on sale with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel motor that makes 109bhp and 250Nm. This engine comes paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission. Changes to this sub-4 metre sedan are identical to the one we have seen on the hatchback and C-segment sedan recently. To set the car apart from the standard trim, this Ameo gets a GT Line badge at the front, piano black ORVM casings and roof. The rear spoiler too has been draped in a similar finish. Unlike the Polo, however, the Ameo continues with the same old grille and bumper.

Since the Ameo GT Line is based on the same variant as the diesel automatic, it has an identical equipment list. It gets the Volkswagen Connect suite – a feature that has now been made standard on all Highline Plus trims too. Just like all other VW diesel models, the Ameo GT Line too will come with a 5-year warranty as standard.
