Xiaomi SU7

Xiaomi, the Chinese Smartphone maker, launched the SU7 electric sedan in the home country in March 2024 and, fast forward to the present day, Xiaomi has showcased the sedan at an event held to celebrate the company's 10th anniversary in India. Having said that, Xiaomi says that the SU7 is not going to be launched in the country in the near future.

Overseas, the Xiaomi SU7 is offered in three variants – SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max. The variant showcased here was the SU7 Max, the performance-oriented version of the electric sedan. It gets a dual motor, all-wheel-drive setup, which produces 664bhp and 838Nm of peak torque (combined output numbers). This setup, offered by Xiaomi in the SU7, ensures that the sedan accelerates from a standstill to 100km/h in 2.78 seconds (with launch control) before hitting a top speed of 265km/h. The battery is a 101kWh unit with a CLTC-certified range of up to 800km.

The wheelbase stands at 3,000mm, while the electric sedan's kerb weight sits between 1,980 and 2,205kg, depending on which variant you go for. As for luggage, you get a 105-litre frunk and a 517-litre boot.

Xiaomi SU7: Design

The SU7's design is similar to what we see on the Tesla Model 3, Xiaomi's market rival. The smartphone maker's sedan gets teardrop-shaped LED headlamps, an air dam on the front bumper, and a tapering bonnet. Other visual elements include a sloping roofline, connected LED taillights, a camera on the B pillar, as well as a choice of 19- and 20-inch wheels. If you choose higher-spec variants, you will get an active rear wing and Lidar technology installed behind the front windshield.

Xiaomi says the vehicle has a drag coefficient of 0.195 Cd, making it one of the world’s most aerodynamically efficient cars. The global-spec model can be had in six colour options – Radiant Purple, Meteor Blue, Lava Orange, Basalt Grey, Pearl White, and Diamond Black.

Xiaomi SU7: Features, Safety Gear

The Xiaomi SU7's cabin is minimalistic yet purposeful. It features a 16.1-inch 3K touchscreen infotainment system, a 7.1-inch digital display, a 56-inch head-up display, and two screens for rear-seat occupants. Other than these, the car offers a panoramic glass roof, powered front seats, multi-zone climate control, Xiaomi's new HyperOS, a start-stop button, and a 50W wireless phone charger.

On the safety front, the car is equipped with 7 airbags, electronic stability control, parking sensors (front and rear), ABS with EBD, and two advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) options – Pilot Pro and Pilot Max. The former is based on pure vision, like Tesla, while the latter additionally gets Lidar.
