HMSI Domestic Sales Boost 6% in April 2023; Sells 3.38 Lakh Units

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) disclosed its sales figures for April 2023. The firm domestically sold 3,38,289 units last month, compared to 3,18,732 units in April 2022, which marked a YoY increase of 6%. In terms of overall sales, the company registered a boost of 4%. It announced a total sales of 3,74,747 units in April 2023, as against 3,61,027 units in the same month the previous year. As far as export goes, the firm saw a decrease of 16% from the previous year. HMSI shipped 42,295 units abroad in the past month, as opposed to 36,458 units in April 2022. The company finished the fiscal year 2022–23 (April 2022–March 2023) on a positive note. The total sales were 43,50,943 units in 2022–23, which was a 14% growth over 2021–22. It included 4,025,486 domestic and 325,457 abroad shipments.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI): Key Highlights FY’22-23

In India, the company introduced a slew of redesigned and new models. The Honda SP125 returned to the market in an improved version. The revised powertrain on the new model uses OBD II technology. The front disc brake with alloy wheels costs Rs 89,131, while the drum brake with alloy wheels costs Rs 85,131. Both prices are ex-showroom. 

The 2023 Honda Activa 125 launched at prices, starting from  78,920 and going up to Rs 88,093 ( Both prices, ex-showroom, New Delhi). The new-gen model has a few changes, including a change to the colour scheme. Also, it has a new H-Smart model.

However, the talking point of the recent fiscal year was the introduction of its first 100cc bike in the country. The all-new Honda Shine 100 retails in our market at an introductory price of Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). According to market reports, the production of the Shine 100 has started at the firm's Narsapura plant in Karnataka, India.

2023 Honda Trail 125 Bike Unveiled Globally, India Launch Unlikely

Last month, Honda pulled covers from the 2023 Trail 125 bike for the international market. The mini motorcycle will be on sale in the American market. It has received an updated long-stroke engine for 2023 that offers better low and mid-range performance. Bookings for the 2023 Trail 125 have already started, and delivery will soon follow. In India, Honda is unlikely to bring the model. However, it provides the features, functionality, and ruggedness that Indian buyers would like. Let's see if the firm changes its plan and introduces the model in our market by adding more aesthetic features.
