Honda Cars India YoY Sales Decline 35% in June

Honda Cars India has released its sales data for June 2023. The carmaker reported monthly domestic sales of 5,080 vehicles in the last month, compared to 7,834 units during the same period in 2022.

Honda Cars India has shared its sales figures for June 2023. The auto giant witnessed negative YoY sales in the past month. It registered monthly domestic sales of 5,080 vehicles in the previous month, compared to 7,834 units during the same period in 2022, representing a YoY drop of 35.15%. However, in terms of MoM sales, the company reported a rise. The month-over-month figures show a 9.01% growth from the 4,660 units sold in May 2023. Speaking of exports, Honda dispatched 2,112 units in the last month, as opposed to 2,502 units in June 2022, which is a decline of 15.59%. Overall, Honda's sales for June 2023 were 7,192 units, a fall of 30.42% from the same month the previous year.

Honda Elevate Bookings Begin In India

Not only the sales of the past month have been disclosed for the market but also the bookings for the upcoming Elevate SUV have begun in the country. Sharing views on the sales performance, Mr. Yuichi Murata, Director, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd said, “Our sales in June are in line with our projections and met our planned targets. After the global unveiling of our latest SUV for India Honda Elevate last month, we are getting overwhelming interest for the new model.'' 

Bookings for the future SUV can be made starting today for a nominal fee of Rs 20,000. Interested Customers can now pre-order the Hyundai Creta's rival, the Elevate, from any authorised Honda dealership or using the firm's online sales platform: Honda from Home. 

Honda Elevate: Powertrain

The fifth-generation Honda City shares a platform with the new Elevate. Mechanically, the upcoming SUV will have the same 1.5-litre iVTEC petrol engine that powers the City. It produces 120bhp and 145Nm. For transmission, the available options include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT. The diesel engine will not be included in the car. Right now, there is no confirmation from the brand, but a 1.5-litre City petrol-hybrid engine is anticipated to be available later.

Honda Elevate: Price & Availability 

This year, Honda will launch the Elevate during the holiday season. The upcoming model is expected to have an ex-showroom starting price of around Rs 11 lakh in India. Upon launch, the SUV will face competition from the Hyundai Creta, the Kia Seltos, the Volkswagen Taigun, the Skoda Kushaq, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and more.
