Kia India Names Gwanggu Lee as Managing Director and CEO

Lee is the third Kia India MD and CEO. Throughout his career, Gwanggu Lee has worked in the automotive industry for over 30 years. He previously served as President of Kia Mexico.

Kia India has officially appointed Gwanggu Lee as the new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective immediately. He succeeds Tae Jin Park, who is retiring following a distinguished 36-year tenure with Kia Corporation, during which he oversaw the Indian division of the South Korean automotive conglomerate for four years. Lee assumes the role of the third MD and CEO of Kia India, succeeding Kook Hyun Shim and Park in that capacity. Lee, who has more than three decades of experience in the automotive industry, held leadership positions in developing and developed economies, among others. His professional background encompasses employment in the United States, Canada, Italy, Mexico, the Kia headquarters in both Central and South America, and the Kia Europe headquarters situated in Germany. It is worth noting that Lee's most recent position was that of President at Kia Mexico.

Kia India is making preparations to launch the new Sonet this month, following its début in December. The compact SUV, which is positioned to contend with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Mahindra XUV300, holds the potential to generate a substantial influence within the market.

Kia India has highly anticipated product launches in 2024, including the highly anticipated EV9 electric SUV, in addition to the introduction of the Carnival MPV.
