In January 2023, Mahindra rolled out the XUV400, its first all-electric SUV, in India. Its two variations were introduced at a starting price of Rs 15.99 lakh for the entry-level EC variant. The high-spec EL variant, on the other hand, has a price tag of Rs 18.99 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom. The automaker announced that the first 5,000 units of each version are available at this price point. The Mahindra XUV400 is now being delivered in stages, and the first batch of 400 vehicles was recently handed over to the owners. The delivery of the electric SUV, however, could take longer for potential buyers. The XUV400 now has an up to six-month waiting period starting from the day of reservation. For those unaware, the bookings for the model commenced for a token amount of Rs 20,000.

Mahindra XUV400 EV: Interior Features

The XUV400 EV's interior is nearly identical to the XUV300's. With a few more copper elements around the centre console, air vents, and the new Twin Peak emblem on the steering wheel, the dashboard is otherwise identical. Up to six airbags, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an electric sunroof, four-wheel disc brakes, and compatibility with BlueSense Plus smartphone apps—which enable 60+ connectivity features including over-the-air (OTA) updates—are all included within the XUV400. The steering, throttle, and regeneration energy responses are altered by the three drive modes available for the XUV400: Fun, Fast, and Fearless.

Mahindra XUV400 EV: Battery and Range

A single electric motor with a peak output of 310Nm and 150bhp powers the Mahindra XUV400. With this engine, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 8.3 seconds while attaining a top speed of 150km/h. A 34.5kWh battery pack and a 39.4kWh unit are the two battery options for the EC. The EL's MIDC range is 456-kilometre, compared to the EC's 375-kilometre.

The Mahindra XUV400 can be charged with a 3.3kW or 7.2kW charger. The 7.2kW charger takes 6.5 hours to completely charge the battery (39.4kWh), whereas the 3.3kW charger takes 13 hours. A DC fast charger can charge a battery from 0% to 80% in less than 50 minutes. The car may also be powered via a 16A home outlet.

Mahindra XUV400 EV: Exterior

The bigger XUV400's design was inspired by the smaller XUV300. The SsangYong Tivoli, which was first created for the 300, allows the electric Mahindra XUV400 to be 4,200mm longer than the ICE XUV300. The front is embellished with a blocked-off grille, bumper garnish with projector headlights and LED DRLs, and satin-copper arrowhead inlays. The car is fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels, and the LED taillamps at the back have the same design but new copper accents. The four colour choices are Arctic Blue, Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black, and Infinity Blue, all of which may be coupled with a satin-copper roof.

Mahindra XUV400 EV: Market Rivals
