Maruti Suzuki India sold 1.80 lakh units overall in May 2025, representing a modest 3.2% year-on-year growth from 1.74 lakh units in May 2024. While domestic sales declined by 5.5% to 1.39 lakh units, including both passenger and light commercial vehicles, the passenger vehicle sales within India dropped 5.6% year-on-year to 1.36 lakh units. However, exports saw a sharp 80% rise, reaching 31,219 units in May 2025, compared to 17,367 units a year ago, helping cushion the dip in domestic demand. The company also reported strong momentum in year-to-date exports, up 49.6% at 59,130 units. While sales to other OEMs, such as Toyota, experienced a minor year-on-year drop in May 2025, settling at 10,168 units compared to 10,490 units last year, cumulative OEM sales for April–May FY26 rose by 25.2%, indicating growth in specific segments despite broader domestic headwinds.
Maruti Suzuki’s entry-level offerings continued to face headwinds in May 2025, with the Mini segment— comprising models like the Alto and S-Presso, witnessing a sharp 31.6% drop in sales to 6,776 units, down from 9,902 units a year earlier. The Compact segment, which includes top-sellers such as the Swift, Baleno, and WagonR, also saw demand soften, posting a 9.8% decline to 61,502 units.

Combined sales from the Mini and Compact segments stood at 68,278 units in May 2025, marking a 12.6% decline compared to the same month last year. The mid-size sedan Ciaz continued its downward trajectory, registering just 458 units — a steep 37.3% year-on-year drop. In contrast, the SUV and MPV lineup, including models such as the Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, and Fronx, showed resilience amid the slowdown, posting a modest 1.3% growth with 54,899 units sold.

Maruti Suzuki’s Eeco van continued to perform steadily in May 2025, recording a 12.5% year-on-year increase with 12,327 units sold, up from 10,960 units a year ago. The Super Carry light commercial vehicle also contributed modestly to overall growth, with sales rising slightly by 1.3% to 2,728 units, compared to 2,692 units in May 2024.
