The Nissan Magnite has achieved a significant milestone in India, crossing the 2 lakh sales mark since its launch in December 2020. Introduced as a compact SUV aimed at offering strong value and features in an affordable package, the Magnite has played a key role in reviving Nissan’s presence in the Indian market. Its bold styling, competitive pricing, and feature-rich cabin have resonated well with buyers, especially in the sub-4-metre SUV segment. This sales landmark highlights Magnite’s growing popularity and its success in catering to the evolving preferences of Indian car buyers.
The Nissan Magnite is offered with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that comes in two forms: a naturally aspirated version and a more potent turbocharged alternative. The NA variant puts out 71bhp and 96Nm of torque, while the turbocharged option delivers a stronger 99bhp and 160Nm. Both engine types can be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Additionally, the NA model features an AMT option, whereas the turbo version gets a CVT. As for fuel economy, Nissan claims the manual can return up to 20km/l, with the CVT delivering around 17.4km/l.

For those seeking an alternative fuel option, a CNG version is available exclusively with the NA petrol engine and manual gearbox. While detailed specifications for the CNG setup are yet to be released, it’s expected to produce slightly lower output than its petrol counterpart – a typical trait for CNG-powered cars. Mileage figures are more promising, though, with claimed efficiency rated at 24km/kg in the city and 30km/kg on highways.

Inside the cabin, the Magnite offers a feature-rich experience. Highlights include an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, USB Type-C charging ports, a 7-inch fully digital driver’s display with improved graphics, auto climate control, and push-button ignition. However, a sunroof remains absent from the equipment list.
On the safety front, the Magnite is equipped with a robust package that includes six airbags as standard, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), ISOFIX mounts for child seats, traction control, TPMS, ABS with EBD, Hill Start Assist, Hydraulic Brake Assist, a reinforced body structure, and emergency braking signals.
The CNG kit is offered as an optional upgrade across all variants for an additional Rs 75,000. The naturally aspirated petrol range starts at Rs 6.14 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.27 lakh, all prices ex-showroom.
