Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer River has enhanced the ownership value of its flagship e-scooter, the Indie, with an 8-year / 80,000 km extended warranty on both the battery and the motor. The new extended warranty option will be available starting on October 1, 2025, for all new bookings and existing customers. The current Indie owners (who have the 5-year warranty) can upgrade to the new 8-year plan within a one-month window at a low price of Rs 3,399 + GST. Meanwhile, customers who purchased their scooters after April 1, 2025, can opt for the new warranty programme at Rs 8,399 + GST. The new 8-year/80,000 km extended warranty for the River Indie electric scooter provides coverage for the most vital and costly components: the battery and motor. It includes the battery if its state of health drops below 70%. The warranty also covers the motor if it stops working even after repair.

According to River, the newly launched warranty programme is one of the best in the electric two-wheeler industry. It protects buyers from costly repairs and makes owning an electric vehicle easier. Currently, River has 32 stores in 15 cities, including Mysuru, Vishakapatnam, and Kochi. The company plans to expand its network to more cities across India by 2026.
The River Indie, an electric maxi-scooter, has a 4kWh IP67-rated lithium-ion battery, which allows for a range of about 120 kilometres on a single charge. It can be charged to 80% in just 4 hours using a standard 5A socket, while the full charging time is 5.5 hours.

The electric scooter gets an all-digital instrument cluster, which offers information about range, speed, and battery levels. It has a spacious 43-litre boot that is large enough to fit a helmet, a bag, or groceries. The scooter is currently priced at Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom).
