Skoda has achieved a big milestone in its India operations as the Czech company has rolled out five lakh cars from its local plants. The company began its car production in India back in 2001 with the launch of the Octavia, assembled in Aurangabad. Since then, Skoda’s line-up has grown steadily with models like the Laura, Superb, and Kodiaq, followed by the Kushaq, Slavia, and Kylaq—helping the brand connect with a wider set of buyers.
Most of these five lakh vehicles—around 70%—came from the Pune plant, while the rest were built at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. These factories are more than just production centres now. Skoda has started using its India base to support other markets, sending components to countries like Vietnam where models like the Kushaq and Slavia are being assembled.

Piyush Arora, CEO & Managing Director, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India said, 'It is not just about manufacturing 500,000 cars, but building and nurturing 500,000 connections. Every car that rolls out of our production lines shares the DNA of European engineering with unmatched quality, crafted with precision; delivering supreme comfort, safety, technology and driving dynamics. This achievement belongs as much to our customers as it does to our employees. Because what we’re manufacturing here isn’t just mobility, it’s a belief in what India can make for domestic as well as international markets.
'India plays a pivotal role in the Group’s growth strategy. I am glad to mention that we achieve this manufacturing milestone in the same year as Skoda Auto celebrates 130 years of legacy globally and 25 years of presence in India.

March 2025 saw Skoda’s highest-ever monthly sales in India with 7,422 units delivered. In just the first half of 2025, Skoda clocked 36,194 wholesale units—a 134% rise over the same period last year and even higher than its previous record from 2022.
India is now playing a larger role in Skoda’s global game plan. The company is using its Indian supply network to support overseas production. With cost-effective manufacturing, Skoda is turning India into an export and assembly hub that fits neatly into its international strategy.
