Tata Motors has begun accepting bookings for the Sierra SUV, and the response has drawn attention across the midsize SUV space. The company confirmed that more than 70,000 bookings were recorded within the first 24 hours after bookings opened on 16 December 2025. Alongside this, nearly 1.35 lakh customers submitted their preferred configurations and are waiting for final allocation. Bookings were accepted through Tata Motors dealerships and the official online platform, with a booking amount of Rs 21,000. For Tata, these first-day numbers signal strong market interest as the Sierra returns as a modern SUV. Tata Motors has confirmed that bookings remain open across India while preparations for deliveries continue.

Diesel variants of the SUV accounted for over 50 per cent of the total bookings. This trend mirrors wider buying behaviour in the midsize SUV segment, where diesel engines continue to attract buyers. Rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Tata Curvv continue to offer diesel powertrains that see steady demand. Diesel automatic variants, in particular, remain popular for segment leaders like the Creta, showing that buyers still prioritise fuel choice alongside transmission convenience.
The Tata Sierra is offered with three engine options, each tuned for different usage needs. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 106bhp, while the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit delivers 160bhp. The 1.5-litre diesel engine, on the other hand, develops 116bhp. These power outputs position the Sierra alongside other midsize SUVs, offering a choice between petrol and diesel with varying performance levels.

The Sierra lineup is divided into seven variants: Smart Plus, Pure, Pure Plus, Adventure, Adventure Plus, Accomplished, and Accomplished Plus. Prices start at Rs 11.49 lakh and go up to Rs 21.29 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata Motors has structured the range to cater to different budgets and feature requirements. Customers can place bookings either at authorised dealerships or through Tata Motors’ online sales portal.

Tata Motors has announced that it will increase production capacity to handle the growing order backlog. The Sierra competes in the segment that already has offerings like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Maruti Suzuki Victoris.
