Street Triple R Price Not Slashed in India, Clarifies Triumph Motorcycles

A six-speed gearbox with a bidirectional quickshifter is standard on the 765cc inline-triple model, coupled to an aluminium twin-spar chassis. Both Street Triple models from Triumph are built on the same platform.

Triumph Street Triple R Front Motion

(Note: Triumph Motorcycles India has issued a statement regarding the recent price cut of the Street Triple R motorcycle in India stating that their official website showed lower prices due to a glitch. We have updated the story at the end with their official comment.)

Triumph Motorcycles India has updated the costs of its roadster lineup, which includes the top-of-the-line Speed Triple 1200 RS, Street Triple R and RS, and Trident 660. The Street Triple R now retails for Rs 9.95 lakh, down Rs 48,000 for the Pure White and Silver Ice liveries and Rs 22,000 for the Matte Baja Orange and Crystal White colorways, now priced at Rs 10.21 lakh. The Trident 660 and Speed Triple 1200 RS have not had their sticker prices altered. On the other hand, the Phantom Black, Carnival Red, and Cosmic Yellow trim levels of the higher-spec Street Triple RS now have sticker prices of Rs 12.21 lakh, an increase of Rs 14,000 from before. Notably, the price of the Silver Ice livery has decreased by Rs 12,000, currently coming in at Rs 11.95 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.

Triumph Street Triple R: Engine Details

A six-speed gearbox with a bidirectional quickshifter is standard on the 765cc inline-triple model, coupled to an aluminium twin-spar chassis. Both Street Triple models are built on the same platform. But there's a difference in engine tuning. The Street Triple R and Street Triple RS have different power output ratings: 118.4bhp and 128.2bhp at 11,500rpm and 12,000rpm, respectively. The bikes' maximum torque output of 80Nm at 9,500rpm is the same on both.

Triumph Street Triple R: Hardware Components

The higher-spec RS has Showa BPF USDs and an Ohlins monoshock arrangement for the cycle parts, while the R is outfitted with Showa SFF-BP USDs and a monoshock setup. Preload adjustment, compression and rebound damping, and adjustability are available in both configurations. Brembo M4.32 4-piston callipers are used for stopping on the R, while Brembo Stylema 4-piston callipers are used on the RS.

Triumph Street Triple R: Features

The R and RS include different ride modes for the electronic rider aids suite: Road, Rain, Sport, and Rider. The RS also has access to an additional Track mode. An IMU with adjustable traction control and ABS settings is included in both bikes. The RS receives a colour TFT dash, whereas the R has a digital display akin to the Trident 660.

Triumph India has released an official statement regarding the story. Here's what they have to say:

"Triumph Motorcycles would like to address recent reports regarding a price drop for the Triumph Street Triple R and Street Triple RS models. Contrary to these reports, there has been no change in the prices of these models.

The reported price drop was due to a glitch on Triumph Motorcycle’s official website. This technical issue has since been corrected. Triumph Motorcycles apologizes for any confusion caused by the glitch.
