Ananth Shanmugam dominated Friday free practice in the inaugural round of the MRF National Racing Championship F1600 at the Buddh International Circuit.

The inaugural round of the MRF National Racing Championship F1600, acting as a support race for the MRF Challenge F2000, is underway at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida. The season’s first free practice sessions have been concluded with Ananth Shanmugam topping the charts in both sessions.

The entire driver line up for the first round of the championship includes: Ananth Shanmugam , Anindith Reddy, Arya Singh, Chetan Korada, Anshul Shah, Nayan Chatterjee, Ishaan Dodhiwala, Angad Matharoo, Alex Bora, Vibhav Parker and Antony George.

Ananth Shanmugam and Anindith Reddy fought for the top spot on the board during the first practice session. Reddy clocked in a time of 2:07.427, only to be beaten by Shanmugam who went faster by just 0.069 seconds who ended up on top. Arya Singh was third fastest during the session, with Chetan Korada and Anshul Shah respectively completing the top five.

Free Practice 2 also say Shanmugam dominate by setting and even quicker lap time of 2:06.440. Reddy was six tenths slower on his fastest run during the session. Nayan Chatterjee was third fastest finishing the day ahead of Singh and Shah who finished fourth and fifth, respectively in the session.

Sessions of Saturday, January 28, will include a qualifying session for the national racing championship followed by the innagural race of the season and Sunday will see the final race to conclude the first round of the championship.
