Dhruv Mohite takes his fourth win of the season in the round three opener of the Volkswagen Ameo Cup 2018.

The first race of round three of the Volkswagen Ameo Cup saw Kolhapur’s Dhruv Mohite claim his fourth victory of the season. Starting from pole position, after having set the fastest lap time of 1:54.959, Dhruv went all guns blazing right from the start which enabled him to build a lead first lap onwards. Mid-way through the race, Dhruv continued to get away from the pack. However, the temperatures started building up in the second half of the race which forced him to ease off his pace. However, he remained unchallenged, even by the second-placed Saurav Bandyopadhyay.

On the other hand, fight for the second and third spots saw a lot of action as Saurav, Jeet and Anmol Singh were part of a very closely-fought battle which began early in the race. The three drivers stayed extremely close to each other in the first few corners with Saurav coming through ahead, followed by Jeet. Pratik Sonawane, who had started way back in the eighth position, stayed on Jeet's tail to put him under pressure. However, Jeet maintained his composure and clinched the final position on the podium.

Sirish Vissa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, said in the post-race conference, 'Today’s race was a pretty clean one with only a few ups and downs here and there. We had two major crashes with cars getting terribly damaged yesterday. Our technical teams worked hard till late night yesterday to have both the cars up on the grid for the race today'. He further added, 'The championship is closely contested at the moment and with five more races to go, it is anyone’s title at the
moment!'
