With the Imperiale 400, the Italian-bikemaker Benelli has forayed in the tight-packed classic-retro cruiser segment. Inspired by the company’s MotoBi motorcycle range from the 1950s, the Imperiale 400 boasts some several retro touches such as a circular clear lens headlamp, spoke wheels, twin-pod instrument cluster, and a slender taillamp mounted on the rear fender. The classic design is further accentuated by the generous use of chrome in the right places. On the whole, the Imperiale 400 is unmistakably a classic-retro motorcycle.
Inspired by retro motorcycles, the Benelli Imperiale 400 is designed to fancy a classic motorcycle fanatic. The classic Benelli is 2,170mm in length, 820mm in width, and 1,120mm in height. Furthermore, it has a ground clearance of 165mm, fuel tank capacity of 12-litres and a curb weight of 205kg.
Engine & Transmission
The Benelli Imperiale 400 also debuts the company’s 374cc single-cylinder engine in the Indian market. The single-pot motor is capable of churning out 20.7bhp and 29Nm and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. As far as its fuel efficiency is concerned, the Benelli Imperiale 400 mileage is expected around 34km/l.
As for the cycle parts, the bike comes equipped with a 41mm telescopic fork suspension at the front and a pre-load adjust twin shock absorber suspension at the back. The braking hardware comprises of a 300mm disc brake at the front and a 240mm disc brake at the rear. There’s a 100/90-19 tyre at the front and a 130/80-18 tyre at the rear. Lastly, the bike is built around a double-cradle chassis.
In terms of equipment, the Benelli Imperiale 400 new model comes equipped with dual-channel ABS as part of the safety net. Keeping in line with the retro theme, the headlamp and taillamp miss out on LEDs. The twin-pod instrument cluster is segregated into a tachometer and a speedometer, accompanied by a small digital display for essential information.
