The BMW R 1250 GS Adventure is, in some ways, the base 1250 GS's bigger sibling. Yes, they use more or less the same drivetrain and put down the same power, but the Adventure equips you that much better for, well, adventure. Along with the base GS, the 1250 GS has received a bunch of updates for 2021, which includes a few mechanical, but mostly cosmetic upgrades. BMW R 1250 GS Adventure Exterior Details
The BMW Adventure gets iconic looks like its smaller sibling. It continues with its LED headlight setup and iconic beak front-end design. The bike features an adjustable windscreen and a typical mile-muncher, ADV stance. The Adventure, however, gets a massive 30-litre fuel tank. Unlike the standard GS, the Adventure also gets spoked wheels that are tubeless tyre compatible. The Adventure variant is meant to explore the unexplored. With that in mind, it also gets larger luggage mounts, a taller windscreen, much more extensive crash protection and larger suspension travel, to name a few upgrades over the standard GS.
BMW R 1250 GS Adventure Engine & Transmission
The BMW R 1250 GS Adventure, like its smaller sibling, gets a 1254cc, air and liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder, boxer engine with BMW ShiftCam technology. The engine in the GS Adventure puts down the same 136PS at 7750rpm and 143Nm of peak torque at 6250rpm. For safety, the bike gets traction control and ABS Pro, among other best in its class features.
BMW R 1250 GS Adventure Handling
Handling in the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure is taken care of by a similar suspension setup. It gets a BMW Motorrad Telelever on the front and a BMW Motorrad Paralever mono-shock on the rear. The Adventure variant gets more suspension travel than the base variant, however. The suspension travel in the Adventure is 210mm on the front and 220mm on the rear. The base GS only gets 190mm on the front and 200mm on the rear. Braking is handled by twin discs on the front wheel and a single rotor on the rear wheel.

The BMW R 1250 GS Adventure is loaded with features. It gets full-LED lighting with an adaptive headlight including cornering lights as optional, to begin with. The bike gets comfort features common with its base variant like keyless ride, heated grips and USB charging. Over that, the Adventure variant gets a larger 30-litre fuel tank and tubeless tyre-compatible spoked wheels. The Adventure also gets a storage compartment, wider enduro-style footpegs, adjustable foot brake lever and gear lever, tank crash bars, and additional auxiliary LED fog lights. The Adventure also gets a taller windscreen, more suspension travel and a higher seat height. Riding aids have also seen updates with the Adventure getting a new Integral ABS Pro mode, Eco riding mode, Hill Start Control Pro, and Dynamic Engine Brake Control.
