This may cause the wheelie control system to engage unexpectedly during acceleration,&nbsp;possibly leading to an imbalance in some circumstances. <h2>Honda Africa Twin: Key Specifications</h2>

<p>The existing Honda Africa Twin is available in two versions: the MT and the DCT. The MT variant comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the DCT variant features an automatic Dual Clutch Transmission.&nbsp;The ex-showroom prices for the MT and DCT versions are Rs 16.01 lakh and Rs 17.55 lakh, respectively. <p>Featuring an&nbsp;adjustable seat and a rally-style&nbsp;positive LCD instrument cluster, the 2022 Africa Twin rides on a&nbsp;telescopic front fork and Pro-Link rear suspension. For enhanced safety, the 2022 iteration also offers duel-LED headlamps with DRLs and cornering lights. Both variants have a 24.5-litre fuel tank.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When it comes to the electronic rider aids, both variants feature a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), dual-channel ABS, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), and four pre-set riding modes – Tour, Urban, Gravel, and Off-Road.</p>

2022 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports launched at Rs 16.01 lakh

Honda Motorcycles has launched the 2022 Africa Twin Adventure Sports in India, with prices starting from ₹16.01 lakh. Bookings for the motorcycle can be made at BigWing Topline dealerships in Gurugram, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Indore, Kochi, Hyderabad and Chennai.

<p>Honda two-wheelers India has launched the 2019 Africa Twin in India at Rs 13.50 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). Available only through 22 Honda Wing World dealers across the country, the new model of the adventure tourer is basically unchanged from the outgoing version and only gets a new paint scheme for 2019. Honda will be bringing in the 2019 Africa Twin in limited numbers in India – only 50 units are up for grabs at the moment.</p>

<p>The 2019 Africa Twin was revealed in 2018. Globally, it’s available in two colours – Glint Wave Blue and Matte Black. In India, we’re only going to get the former option though. Apart from its blue/red/white paint scheme, some of its other visual highlights are golden handlebar and golden spoked wheels. The hardcore Adventure Sport variant – which gets a bigger fuel tank, more ground clearance, heated grips, more suspension travel and an extended windscreen – is still not offered in India.</p>

<p>On the mechanical front, things are unchanged. The Africa Twin continues to come powered by a 999cc parallel-twin engine that develops of 88bhp @ 7,500rpm and 93Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. Although available with a manual gearbox in global markets, the India-spec version continues to be offered only with a dual-clutch automatic transmission. There's a raft of electronic aids on offer, including 3 levels of power and engine braking combinations, throttle-by-wire and four riding modes, namely – Tour, Urban, Gravel and User. Off-road ABS is also part of the standard kit.</p>

<p>Like the outgoing model, the 2019 Africa Twin will also be assembled locally as CKD by Honda in India. Competition for Honda’s updated adventure tourer includes the likes of the Triumph Tiger 800 and BMW F 850 GS.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/honda/">Honda</a> brought in the Africa Twin to India exactly a year ago. The company had only got a limited number of units which were sold out rather quickly. Earlier this year, at the Auto Expo 2018, Honda showcased an updated version of the Africa Twin. Bookings for the 2018 iteration is likely to commence in a few weeks’ time and the bike is expected to be launched in July.</p>

<p>As part of the 2018 update, the Africa Twin now gets Throttle-by-wire technology that gives the rider the ability to manage engine output and the traction at the rear wheel. Moreover, the refreshed model also gets an update to the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). From just 3 levels of HSTC, the 2018 Africa Twin will now have 7 levels including the ability to switch the function off. Apart from the updated electronics, the new Africa Twin also gets a 20mm longer funnel for the airbox. In combination with a redesigned exhaust, this gives the motorcycle a stronger mid-range – something that should come in handy while off-roading. By fitting the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/honda/africa-twin/">Africa Twin</a> with a Lithium-ion battery, Honda has managed to increase its durability and at the same time reduce weight by more than 2 kilograms.</p>

<p>There are minor cosmetic changes too – more on the function side of things than form. While the overall design remains more or less identical, the 2018 Africa Twin gets wider footpegs for better support along with wider heel plates. The angle of the instrument cluster too has been changed for better viewing angles.</p>

<p>Just like before, Honda will bring the Africa Twin to India via the CKD route. When it was first launched in May 2017, the Africa Twin carried a sticker price of Rs 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Keeping in mind the revised tax structure on CKD offerings, expect the 2018 Africa Twin to be priced marginally higher. Honda is yet to announce how many units of the refreshed Africa Twin will be brought to Indian shores.</p>


2018 Honda Africa Twin launch in July

Honda brought in the Africa Twin to India exactly a year ago. The company had only got a limited number of units which were sold out rather quickly. Earlier this year, at the Auto Expo 2018, Honda showcased an updated version of the Africa Twin.

<p>Wraps have come off the 2018 <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/honda/africa-twin/">Honda Africa Twin</a> at the ongoing EICMA motorcycle show. Highlights include a more adventure-focused variant, called the Adventure Sport, while the standard version also gains a number of updates over the outgoing model.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The new variant – the Adventure Sport – takes the Africa Twin’s adventure game up a notch. To start with, it gets 5.4 litres bigger fuel tank (24.2 litres) than before, increased ground clearance – up by 20mm to 270mm, heated grips, 22mm longer suspension travel, a larger sump guard and an extended front windscreen.</p>

<p>The standard version, too, gets new bits and bobs. Ride-by-wire throttle with three riding modes, seven levels of traction control – up from three in the current model, and a modified new air-box for better power delivery and enhanced exhaust note have been introduced in the motorcycle. There’s also a new lithium-ion battery that saves 2 kilograms over the older model’s battery. A new paint scheme to commemorate the 30<sup>th</sup> anniversary of the original Africa Twin rounds out the list of updates.</p>

<p>On the mechanical front, there are no changes to speak of. This means the motorcycle continues to come powered by a 998cc parallel-twin motor that develops 87bhp and 92Nm. The motorcycle comes in two gearbox options – a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).</p>

<p>The outgoing Honda Africa Twin was launched in India earlier this year in limited numbers. Though the one that came to our market was only offered with the DCT gearbox. With the new model being unveiled now, we are expecting <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/honda/">Honda</a> to bring it our shores sometime in 2018.</p>

Adventure</a> and the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/triumph/tiger-900/">Triumph Tiger 900</a>.</p>
