Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Highlights
Mercedes-Benz AMG's GT Coupe is the manufacturer's second car to be completely produced by the Affalterbach German-based brand. While some supercars are made to go really fast, some get laden with the latest tech, and then there was the SLS AMG – the company's gullwing-doored two-seater that looked quite extreme and was endowed with the unsubtle characteristics of a muscle car. However, when Mercedes-Benz decided to make a high-volume car that is much easier to drive and came across as a more practical alternative, the AMG GT was born. It has a massive engine at the front, and the driver is seated almost above the rear wheels, with the choice of an automatic transmission.
The AMG GT looks very different from the car it replaces – the SLS, but there's something about the silhouette that reminds us of its predecessor. The AMG GT is smaller and looks a bit angrier from the front. The muscular front fenders look great, and the long bonnet has bulges on it, along with air-vents closer to the windscreen. At the front, there's a huge single-slat grille with the Mercedes logo in the middle. It also gets aggressive-looking headlamps and huge air intakes in the lower bumper for the price. Mercedes-Benz AMG GT’s curvaceous side profile looks nice along with the 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch wheels at the rear, and the wide haunches towards the rear give it a beastly stance. At the rear, it gets slim LED tail lamps and a big diffuser with twin exhausts.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT variants are as follows: S, Roadster and R. Features include steering mounted controls, voice command, navigation, electrically-adjustable driver and passenger's seat with memory function, heated and cooled seating, leather-wrapped steering, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, parking assist, automatic headlamps and rain sensing wipers. On the safet front, it is equipped with ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, ESP, traction control and 8 airbags.

Engine Specifications & Performance
The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 that produces 503bhp and 650Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch Speed shift transmission. Dab on the start button, and the engine rumbles. The gearbox is quite quick to shift, and engine is very responsive. You get five driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Race and Individual. The modes help adjust engine and transmission responses, engine volume and the suspension. Launch control on this car has it shoot forward instantly, and the engine sounds really angry, as expected of an AMG. Acceleration is strong, as we found out on an open stretch of tarmac. It tackles corners with good poise, and the steering is sharp and rapid. The ride, on the other hand, is on the firm side, typical of a sports car.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT's ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure is rated at 12kmpl for all the variants.
