The Mercedes-Benz CLA electric has scored a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests. Tested in CLA 250+ spec, the car is one of three variants now on sale in India following the April 2026 launch, alongside the CLA 200 and the Launch Edition. The results confirm that the sedan meets the standards Euro NCAP sets for occupant and road user protection. For Mercedes, this adds to the case for the CLA as a product that combines performance and range with credentials in safety.

The CLA BEV returned a score of 94 per cent in the Adult Occupant Protection category. In both the frontal and lateral impact crash tests, it scored 15.5 out of 16. Euro NCAP rated protection for all body areas in the front row as being at the level of good during the frontal barrier test.
The side pole test did identify marginal protection for the driver's chest. However, the presence of a central airbag contributed to occupant-to-occupant protection being rated as good. That outcome reflects the degree to which Mercedes has focused on passenger safety engineering in the CLA.
The CLA also returned results in the Child Occupant Protection category. Euro NCAP tested it using six-year-old and ten-year-old dummies across frontal and lateral crash scenarios. In the frontal crash test, protection for both dummies was rated as good. In the lateral impact test, the ten-year-old dummy recorded adequate head protection. The overall score in this category reached 23.7 out of 24. Child seat installation was rated as easy.
In the Vulnerable Road User category, the CLA returned a score of 93 per cent. Its Autonomous Emergency Braking system is operational from 7km/h and recorded 8.7 out of 9 for pedestrian detection and 8 out of 8 for cyclist response. The A-pillars were rated as poor in the impact protection tests, which affected the tally in this section.
The Safety Assist category returned a score of 85 per cent. The Lane Support System, which is operational from 45km/h, scored 3 out of 3. The car is fitted with driver drowsiness detection but does not include an occupant detection system, which resulted in a score of 2 out of 3 in that sub-category. For buyers in India considering a Mercedes-Benz CLA, the Euro NCAP results now form part of the case alongside the performance and technology on offer.
