<p>Apart from focusing on EVs based on shared platforms, the Alliance is also working towards reducing battery costs by up to 50% in 2026 and 65% by 2028. With this approach, by 2030, the Alliance aims to achieve a total of 220GWh of battery production capacity for EVs across its key production sites.</p>

<p>Under Renault’s leadership, the Alliance is also developing a common centralized electrical and electronic architecture. So, expect the Alliance to launch its first fully software-defined vehicle by 2025.</p>

The Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance has announced further details of its future carbon-neutral business roadmap – Alliance 2030. Among many, one of the biggest announcements of this roadmap is an investment of up to €23 billion over the next five years towards electrification.

<p><strong>Ralliart, Mitsubishi’s performance division is making a comeback and their first project is the reimagined, more aggressive, Outlander based SUV, which has been dubbed the Vision Ralliart.</strong></p>

<p>Mitsubishi will showcase a total of seven models at the Tokyo Auto Salon and one of the seven is the Outlander concept imagined by Ralliart. Yes, Mitsubishi’s Ralliart division has made a comeback after a decade. For the uninitiated, what Ralliart is to Mitsubishi, is what AMG is to Mercedes-Benz.</p>

<p>Ralliart’s Outlander concept has been dubbed the Vision, and it is one of the two Ralliart models which Mitsubishi plans to showcase. Focusing on the Vision concept, the SUV features a wide body kit and large 22-inch wheels. The wide-body kit makes the SUV appear a lot more muscular and the grille and alloy wheel design are very modern, to say the least.</p>

<p>“The Vision Ralliart Concept embodies Mitsubishi Motors’ vision for the new Ralliart and brings together the company’s engineering and passion for Monozukuri challenges (craftsmanship),” said Mitsubishi.</p>

<p>The wheels hide large brake rotors with opposed-piston six-pot callipers. At the rear, there is a large diffuser housed into the rear bumper which also gets an F1 style brake lamp in the centre. There are no exhaust tips at the rear, so does that mean the Vision Concept is an electric SUV? Mitsubishi is tight-lipped about it and the Japanese manufacturer hasn’t even given a peek inside.</p>

<p>“Styling is given a premium look with an impressive presence on the road, and the comfortable ride with peace of mind in various weather and road conditions – characteristic of Mitsubishi vehicles – is further refined.” it further added.</p>

<p>That said, the Outlander based Vision concept by Ralliart will share the pavilion with the Mitsubishi Outlander Ralliart Style. The Outlander Ralliart Style is essentially a standard SUV which has been accessorised with Ralliart decals, mud flaps and highlighted trims. In November last year, Mitsubishi also revealed the Triton pick up and Pajero Sport with the Ralliart package.</p>

Mitsubishi Outlander Ralliart concept showcased at Tokyo Auto Salon

Ralliart, Mitsubishi’s performance division is making a comeback and their first project is the reimagined, more aggressive Outlander based SUV, which has been dubbed the Vision Ralliart.

<p><strong>Mitsubishi has plans to update its passenger vehicle line-up for next year. The company will also bring back its Ralliart division to life after a decade long hiatus.</strong></p>

<p>Early this year, <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/mitsubishi-pajero-and-ralliart-division-to-make-a-comeback-109459/">Mitsubishi announced its plans to relaunch its Ralliart division</a>. After being off the grid for almost 11 years, Mitsubishi’s Ralliart division will showcase its concept car at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022, which will be held in Japan.</p>

<p>For now, the brand has just given out a teaser image, which highlights the rear bumper of the concept car. The image mainly focuses on the chunky rear diffuser, which sports the ‘Ralliart’ badge. There is a ‘Formula One’ style brake light neatly integrated into the bumper.&nbsp;</p>

<p>What’s more interesting is that the diffuser does not house an exhaust tip. Does that mean that there is no internal combustion engine in the new Ralliart concept car? Well, we will find out if the upcoming concept is an EV or will it feature a thoroughbred IC engine on January 14, 2022.</p>

<p>The Japanese carmaker is also expected to showcase the 2022 Triton pick-up and the Xpander MPV. It is about time that Mitsubishi gives a glimpse of the all-new generation Pajero SUV, which is likely to make its global appearance by 2023. The new SUV is expected to be based on an all-new platform and will house a new engine as well. Expect the 2023 Mitsubishi Pajero to adopt the hybrid route, if not the all-electric one.</p>

<p><strong>Mitsubishi’s in-house motorsport and tuning division, Ralliart, will be revived soon. The company has also confirmed a new generation of the Mitsubishi Pajero and other MPVs and pick-ups for ASEAN markets.</strong></p>

<p>Mitsubishi Motors plans on bringing back its in-house motorsport division, Ralliart, to life. The news comes along with the company’s decision to bring a new generation of the Triton pick-up, Xpander MPV, and Pajero SUV by 2023. There are two all-new crossover SUVs in the works, which shall break cover by 2022, confirms Mitsubishi.</p>

<p>'We have decided to relaunch the Ralliart brand for customers in Mitsubishi Motors brand who want to add to Mitsubishi Motors-ness even more,' said Takao Kato, Mitsubishi CEO.</p>

<p>The Ralliart division is making a comeback after 11 years since Mitsubishi motors stopped operations of its rally division in 2010. During its 25-year-long run, Ralliart brought Mitsubishi 12 Paris-Dakar titles between 1985 and 2007, with the Pajero. Mitsubishi’s motorsport division also saw a huge success by winning four consecutive world rally titles, with its Lancer Evolution piloted by Tommi Makinen.</p>

<p>'For customers who wish to experience our Mitsubishi-ness, we will launch custom-made accessories for our model line-up as well as re-entering motorsport events around the world,'&nbsp;Kato added. The presentation also showcased a picture of the Mitsubishi Triton with Ralliart livery and an image of another sedan/coupe featuring a reference to ‘Ralliart Parts’.</p>

<p>Mitsubishi sold the Pajero Sport and Outlander in India. With the stringent BS6 emission implemented from April 2020, Mitsubishi has not yet updated the two models to meet the emission standards. With the announcement of the new Mitsubishi Pajero, the company plans on strengthening its presence in ASEAN markets. It means that there is a possibility that the new-gen Pajero could be offered in India but not before 2024-25. The new SUV is likely to pack a new engine and a new platform. There could also be a performance model of the new Pajero with major inputs from Mitsubishi’s Ralliart division.</p>

Mitsubishi Pajero and Ralliart division to make a comeback

<p><strong><em>Low customer demand and ever-growing competition seem to be the reason behind the move; revised ex-showroom price lower by about&nbsp;₹ 5 lakh.</em></strong></p>

<p>Mitsubishi Motors India has just given its Outlander SUV a significant price cut. The car&nbsp;now carries an ex-showroom price&nbsp;of&nbsp;₹ 26.93 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). At the time of its launch last year, the <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/mitsubishi-outlander-launched-at-3194-lakh-103985/">Outlander was priced at ₹ 31.95 lakh</a> (ex-showroom, Delhi). The heavy price cut has made the Outlander a more affordable option than quite a few of its contemporaries, like the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Honda CR-V and the Skoda Kodiaq.</p>

<p>Other than the price reduction, Mitsubishi has also given the Outlander a featural update. The upgrade is headlined by a new 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen (replacing the old 6.1-inch head)&nbsp;that's equipped with Android Auto and Navigation as well. However, the infotainment system&nbsp;still seems to continue with the 710W Rockford Fosgate premium sound&nbsp;system.</p>

<p>Despite the update, the Outlander still misses out on some important&nbsp;features like Apple CarPlay and rear AC vents (which are, in fact, available in the international-spec Outlander). But what the Outlander does offer is a CVT automatic gearbox (with paddle shift), electronically-controlled 4WD, auto LED headlamps, electric sunroof, ABS &amp; EBD with Active Stability Control (ASC), dual-zone auto climate control, keyless entry with push-button stop/start and an electric parking brake, to name a few.</p>

<p>The Outlander continues to&nbsp;be powered by&nbsp;a 2.4-litre four-cylinder&nbsp;petrol engine that pushes out 165bhp and 222Nm of torque. As for Mitsubishi's plans regarding&nbsp;BS-VI conversion, there's still no clarity on whether its two models here&nbsp;– the Outlander and Pajero Sport&nbsp;– will make the switch to BS-VI.</p>

Mitsubishi Outlander gets a big price cut & feature update

Mitsubishi Motors India has just given its Outlander SUV a significant price cut. The car now carries an ex-showroom price of ₹ 26.93 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). At the time of its launch last year, the Outlander was priced at ₹ 31.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

<p><strong><span style="color:#222222">In a bustling world of SUVs, is the Mitsubishi Outlander arriving on our shores a bit too late or is it versatile enough to create a niche of its own?</span></strong></p>

<p><span style="color:#222222">It’s been so long that I can’t recall when was the last time I sat in a brand new Mitsubishi vehicle. Anyways, we have some good news for its loyal followers, the Japanese automaker has decided to bring back their urban beast, the Outlander. Even though this crossover's not been launched in India, it is expected to be priced around ₹31 lakh as it will take the CBU route. Yes, it will be expensive and did we mention that only the petrol version will be launched here? </span></p>

<p><b><span style="color:#222222">Have we met before?</span></b></p>

<p><span style="color:#222222">Yes, that is quite a tacky pickup line, but I remember test driving the previous generation Outlander almost a decade ago and sadly the new version seems to look and feel the same. Maybe I’m judging the Outlander by its cover. If I remember correctly, this ‘new’ generation SUV was launched in 2012 globally and then in 2015, it received a facelift, which is the one we are driving today. So, doesn’t that make it 3 years ‘new’? My sincere apologies, today I’m going on a rant.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:#222222">The Outlander always came across an understated crossover and the simple and clean design has started showing its age. Therefore, Mitsubishi has decided to give it a more aggressive front fascia. The angular metal finish front grille looks bold and the <span style="background:white">LED headlamps are </span>sleek, while the bumper houses LED fog lamps. Coming to the side profile and the new Outlander is more or less identical to the earlier version except for the black cladding with silver finish on the lower part of doors. Honestly, it comes across as a lazy attempt to rejig its plain Jane side composition. Mitsubishi sticks to the tried-and-tested rear design even and now it's equipped with LED lights and a silver line running between the tail lamp clusters. This new crossover lacks a commanding stance as it is fitted with minuscule 16-inch wheels. Even our homegrown SUVs like the Tata Hexa and Mahindra XUV 500 boast bigger sets of wheel. </span></p>

<p><b><span style="color:#222222">Simple yet solid interiors</span></b></p>

<p><span style="color:#222222">The all-black interiors do add a classy touch to the cabin and they also ensure that it doesn’t age quickly. Again, if you have sat inside the previous generation Outlander, you’ll notice that the layout is more or less the same, except for the central console which now sports a 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment. The screen resolution is decent, but the touch response's disappointing as we ended pressing the screen with more force than we would have liked. Believe it or not, the infotainment doesn’t come with Bluetooth connectivity option. Now Mitsubishi’s told us that they are working on this with Rockford and soon they shall launch a Bluetooth enabled system. So, at the moment you can play music via radio, USB slot, auxiliary port and the good old CD player. Some millennials might be wondering what that is. The fit-and-finish of the cabin is impressive, the build quality is solid, the leather-wrapped steering wheel, gear knob and upholstery are of top quality</span></p>

<p><b><span style="color:#222222">Where it matters?</span></b></p>

<p style="margin-bottom:12.0pt"><span style="color:#222222">The Outlander is powered by a 165bhp 2.4-litre petrol engine and once it's fired up and slotted in drive mode, the crossover is ready to pull away in a linear fashion. We did wish there was more initial poke from the engine, but if you push it harder, the motor responds quicker once it crosses 4,500rpm mark. The culprit here is the CVT gearbox’s typical rubber band character. As you step on the accelerator, you will notice that the rev needle shooting up, but there is the only minimal response in power. The Outlander comes with beautiful aluminium finish paddle shifters, but sadly even on manual mode, it doesn’t transform into a roaring beast. I guess a leopard doesn't change its spots. </span></p>

<p><span style="color:#222222">What is impressive about the Outlander is that there is hardly any engine noise in the cabin as its so refined. As it’s based on a monocoque chassis, this crossover behaves like a car and remains glued to the tarmac while entering and exiting the twisties. As it comes with AWD option, the additional aid comes from the rear wheels when required. We predominantly drove it on the tarmac and the independent suspension carpeted ditches easily and the ride quality was never compromised. The Outlander also never wallowed on undulations as it remained stable.</span></p>

<p><b><span style="color:#222222">Final word</span></b></p>

<p><span style="color:#222222">The Outlander is one tough crossover that is built to last. The 2.4-litre engine is refined and fairly agile for a powerplant mated to a CVT. The cabin too is made of top quality materials, but they lack the premium feel. It is a seven-seater and the third row, at best, can seat children, but with the middle getting sliding seats this does help in improving the last row passenger’s legroom. Being a CBU, the Outlander will be expensive and in all honesty, Mitsubishi is re-entering this segment very late and again with the wrong engine option. With fuel prices skyrocketing on a daily basis, diesel variant continues to be the more favourable option. Even though it has an impressive Rockford subwoofer, but sadly the infotainment doesn’t come with basic features like Bluetooth, Apple Play, Android Auto and navigation maps. There is no doubt the Outlander has potential, but it looks like Mitsubishi is making hasty decisions and is overlooking the obvious requirements in this segment.</span></p>
