<p>Nissan India has reportedly suspended&nbsp;the bookings for the Kicks SUV in India. The company&nbsp;has temporarily stopped&nbsp;accepting its bookings on the&nbsp;official website. Not just the carmaker,&nbsp;dealers across the country have stopped the immediate bookings of the Nissan Kicks as well. According to industry sources, this&nbsp;decision has been made due to low sales volume throughout 2022. The SUV's sales figures&nbsp;show&nbsp;that Nissan managed to sell only 3 units of the Kicks in last November. Besides, it did not dispatch even&nbsp;a single unit in the following three months. Meanwhile, we expect that the SUV might get discontinued due to upcoming BS6 Phase II emission norms, which will come into effect from April 1, 2023.</p>

<h2>Nissan Kicks SUV: Engine and Specs</h2>

<p>The <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/2023-nissan-magnite-launched-in-india-price-variants-and-features-explained-112547/">Nissan</a> Kicks receives two engine options:&nbsp;a Mercedes-derived 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol motor and a 1.5-litre NA (naturally aspirated)&nbsp;petrol engine. The 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine churns out 154bhp of maximum power and 254Nm of peak torque, while the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine delivers 104bhp of power output and 142Nm of torque.</p>

<p>To give you a brief background, Nissan India launched the updated Kicks SUV (a BS6 upgrade) in 2020 at an introductory price of Rs 9.50 lakh (ex-showroom) for the NA variants. The carmaker decided to discontinue the diesel powertrain and introduce the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine. At the time, the crossover was available in 7 variants with manual and CVT transmission options.</p>

In addition, the car is also available in 3 dual-tone options - Bronze Grey with Amber Orange, Fire Red with Onyx Black, and Pearl White with Onyx Black. As for its rivals, the 2020 Nissan Kicks competes against the likes of the newly launched&nbsp;Hyundai Creta, the Kia Seltos, and others.</p>

The bookings for the Nissan Kicks SUV have been temporarily stopped in India. The SUV is likely to get discontinued owing to upcoming RDE or BS6 Phase II emission norms. Moreover, the company did not dispatch even a single unit in the last three months.

<p>Nissan India has announced that deliveries of the new Kicks SUV will begin from January 2019.</p>

<p>Nissan has commenced dispatching the ‘2019 model year’ Kicks SUVs to dealerships across India from their plant in Chennai. The Kicks is scheduled to be launched on January 22. Nissan dealers have been accepting bookings for the Kicks from December 2018 for an amount of Rs 25,000.</p>

<p>The Kicks is designed on the same underpinnings as the Renault Captur and will compete in the same segment against the Hyundai Creta. The Kicks features a 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox.</p>

<p>Additionally, the Kicks will come equipped with LED DRLs, front fog lamps and door mounted ORVMs with indicators and 17-inch 5-spoke machined alloy wheels. As for the interior, the 8.0-inch floating infotainment touchscreen system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a 360-degree parking camera. Features like cruise control, rain sensing wipers, cornering headlamps, ABS with EBD will also be offered with the Kicks.</p>

<p>With regard to the competition, the Hyundai Creta is priced from Rs 9.9 lakh ex-showroom for the base manual petrol model. The Renault Captur also starts at the same price, which is why the Kicks will most likely be offered around the same price bracket.<br />

<p>Nissan India is expected to launch a brand new product for the first time since the introduction of the GT-R supercar back in December 2016. The Nissan Kicks will be an all-new SUV for the Indian market which will sit higher in the range than the ageing Nissan Terrano.</p>

<p>While the International spec Nissan Kicks is already on sale based on the V-platform. The Kicks for the Indian market will be based upon the same platform as the Renault Captur, which also underpins the Terrano/Duster siblings. This will allow the Kicks to have a longer wheelbase than the international model and larger dimensions will result in more interior and luggage space. The styling will be based on Nissan’s latest design language. It will feature the new Nissan signature V-motion grille. The sketches also reveal that the Kicks will feature flared wheel arches, LED headlamps with DRLs and boomerang-shaped LED tail lamps.</p>

<p>As for the powertrain, it seems likely that Nissan might just launch the Kicks with the 108bhp version of the 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine that also does duty on the Captur. <i>Read our review of the Renault Captur here. </i>This engine will come with a six-speed manual, however, whether or not Nissan will offer&nbsp;an automatic&nbsp;version is something that remains to be seen. The Kicks will rival its French sister, the Renault Captur, in addition to the Hyundai Creta and the lower spec models of the Jeep Compass .</p>

<p>Globally, Nissan’s SUV line-up includes the Patrol, Terra, Pathfinder, Armada, X-Trail, Terrano, Juke and KICKS, which are sold in over 100 markets. Between 1965 to 1999, Nissan was supplying the Indian Army with the Nissan Jonga.</p>
