Nissan Kicks Overview
The compact SUV scenario in India is heating up at a rapid rate with such products being launched by almost every existing auto manufacturer in India, and the Kicks is what Nissan has to offer in our market. Its rather sharp styling is sure to lure buyers, but there's more to it. It comes loaded with a host of segment-first features, a silky-smooth petrol engine, a modern, well-finished interior and of course, the aggressively set Nissan Kicks’ price. Also, it is based on an updated version of the M0 platform that underpins the Renault Captur and inherits some of the Duster SUV's strong credentials.
Nissan Kicks Exterior
There's no doubt that the Nissan Kicks new model looks really smart from all angles. At the front, the projector headlamps are shaped to look like the nib of an ink pen, and flank the signature V-shaped grille. The slightly raised bonnet and the sculpted front bumper look good, while the side profile consists of well-defined wheel arches that house 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Also, notice the up-swept character lines on the doors. Then there are the blacked-out door pillars and roof rails that give it an SUV stance. At the rear, the slightly protruding tailgate and the boomerang-shaped tail lamps are stylish details.
Nissan Kicks Variants
The Nissan Kicks variants for the petrol model are as follows: XL and XV. The variants for diesel model are as follows: XL, XV, XV Premium, XV Premium+. Features include climate control, rear AC vents, electrically adjustable wing mirrors with integrated turn indicators, rear wiper, steering-mounted audio controls, front fog lamps with cornering function, 8-inch touchscreen unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, hill-start assist, leather-wrapped steering, keyless entry, cruise control, LED projector headlamps and automatic wipers and headlamps with a follow-me-home function. On the safety front, it is equipped with a 360-degree camera and display, four airbags, ABS with EBD, bake assist, rear parking sensors, reverse camera and Vehicle Dynamic Control.
Nissan Kicks Interior
Even the cabin has a lot of stylish design cues. There's the 8.0-inch floating touchscreen that looks nice and functions well too. The choco-brown leather across the dashboard gets white stitching; the brushed silver accents that seem right for the segment and on-road price; Nissan Kicks also gets quilted leather seats. The joint-twin meters with the digital speedometer are a good combination, and the steering looks quite sporty. The door pockets can hold 1-litre bottles and the glovebox is pretty deep. The wide and comfortable front seats are placed a little high up, allowing for good visibility out-front. And there is also seat and steering adjustment as well. Access to the rear is easy, and there's plenty of room at the rear. Even a third occupant can fit in, thanks to the width of the rear bench. The 400-litre boot can also be accessed from inside.
Nissan Kicks Engine Specification & Performance
The Nissan Kicks is powered by two engine options: a 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 105bhp and 142Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 109bhp and 240Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. At idle, the diesel engine does sound a bit gruff, but as the engine picks up pace, it gets smoother. Turbo lag isn't all that prominent, and it has a pretty strong mid-range as well. At lower speeds, the engine is smooth and overtaking on highways is an effortless task. The petrol engine, on the other hand, is smooth at idle. A slight dab of the throttle results in immediate response. Power is delivered in a seamless manner. The ride, over uneven roads, is composed at high speeds. Handling is quite sharp and straight-line stability is great. Around corners, there is good grip on offer as well. The only issue is kickbacks from the steering wheel over undulations and mid-corner bumps.
Nissan Kicks Mileage
The Nissan Kicks' ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure is rated at 20.45kmpl for the diesel model and 14.23kmpl for the petrol model.
