Bharat Mobility Expo: Having unveiled the Xoom 160 for the first time at its Hero World event, Hero MotoCorp has showcased the maxi-scooter at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Expo 2024 in New Delhi. The Xoom 160 on display previews a near-production-ready version of the ADV-styled maxi-scooter. In terms of design, it closely resembles the Honda X-ADV that is sold in certain Asian and European markets. The Hero Xoom 160 gets a tall windscreen, a sleek front apron, split LED headlights, as well as an angular rear section featuring an LED taillight and a raised rear seat. Instead of having a flat floorboard, the maxi-scooter comes with a step-through design, enabling you to sidestep on either side to position your feet. The scooter tips the scales at 141 kilograms.

Hero Xoom 160: Features

The maxi-scooter design is complemented by LED illumination, a fully digital dash, single-channel ABS, keyless ignition, remote seat opening, and smart find—which lets you locate the scooter in a parking spot by just pressing a button on your keyfob. However, it remains to be seen whether the scooter will feature Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.

Hero Xoom 160: Engine, Hardware

Powering the Hero Xoom 160 is a brand-new, liquid-cooled, 156cc, single-cylinder engine that churns out 14bhp at 8,000rpm and 13.7Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. The engine is equipped with Hero's i3S (idle stop-start system) technology. Meanwhile, the hardware components include a telescopic fork at the front, twin shock absorbers at the back, disc brakes, and 14-inch wheels wrapped in dual-purpose tyres.

Hero Xoom 160: Market Availability, Rivals

Hero has yet to disclose details concerning the availability of the scooter. However, we expect the Hero Xoom 160 to go on sale in India this year. Once launched, it will rival the likes of the Yamaha Aerox 155 (15bhp/13.9Nm) and the Aprilia SXR 160 (10.84bhp/11.6Nm) in the segment.

Hero Xoom 125R Likely to Arrive This Year Too

In related news, Hero is preparing to add the new 125cc scooter to the Xoom lineup. The Hero Xoom 125R, along with the Xoom 160, made its India debut at the recently held Hero World event. The Xoom 125R is positioned above the Xoom 110 in the line-up and comes powered by a 124.6cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 9.5bhp and 10.14Nm of torque.
