BMW Motorrad has launched the F 450 GS in India at an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 4.70 lakh. Bookings for the TVS-manufactured ADV are already underway, while deliveries are anticipated to begin soon. Compared to the single-cylinder setup of its predecessor, the discontinued BMW G 310 GS, the F 450 brings a larger and more powerful twin-cylinder energy to the entry-level GS. It will compete against the KTM 390 Adventure, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, and the Honda NX500. Check out what the baby GS brings to India's competitive mid-capacity adventure segment.

The F 450 GS uses a completely new 420cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces 47bhp and 43Nm, which is 13bhp and 15Nm more than the single-cylinder unit in the discontinued G 310 GS. The rise in performance (around 41% more power and 53% more torque) and the ability to perform well even at low speeds make it easier to ride on rough roads and off-road trails. Thanks to the 135-degree crankpin offset and balance shaft, the motor runs smoothly with reduced vibrations. It also gives the bike a deep, unique exhaust sound that’s different from most parallel twins. Moreover, the unit comes paired with a six-speed gearbox and is supported by a slipper clutch. Additionally, a bi-directional quickshifter is offered as standard.
The BMW F 450 GS is built on a tubular steel frame, suspended by USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by a 310mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc. It rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup, while weighing 178kg. The seat height stands at 845mm, and can be adjusted to 830mm or 865mm to suit riders of different heights.

The F 450 is instantly recognisable as a GS due to its rugged and adventure-focused design. It has a tall front beak, aggressive body panels, and a contoured fuel tank. The tail portion looks slim, while the upright proportions add to the bike's off-road appeal. Overall, the bike balance purpose and style well for everyday use while maintaining design cues from bigger GSs.
Key features include a 6.5-inch TFT screen with smartphone integration, Easy Ride Clutch, traction control, multiple riding modes, cornering ABS, and engine braking control. It also benefits from BMW’s Shift Assistant Pro, which offers clutchless shifting.
BMW Motorrad offers the F 450 GS in four variants globally, namely Basic, Exclusive, Sport, and Trophy. However, the lineup has been streamlined to three variants for the Indian market, including Basic, Exclusive, and GS Trophy. Here's a look at the prices of these models:
| Variants | Price (ex-showroom) |
| Basic | Rs 4.70 lakh |
| Exclusive | Rs 4.90 lakh |
| GS Trophy | Rs 5.30 lakh |
