Ducati has launched the SuperSport and SuperSport S in India. The SuperSport series was globally launched earlier in 2017, and is positioned below the  Panigale series in the Italian company’s line-up.

Before anything else, let’s clear all the confusion surrounding that name. While the latest Ducati is named after an entire motorcycle segment itself, the Ducati SuperSport is, well, not a true supersport segment motorcycle. Supersport segment motorcycles are committed, track-focused sportsbikes - and Ducati has the Panigale series to play that role. The Ducati SuperSport aims to combine track capability with everyday usability. As a result, the bike boasts a far less aggressive riding posture than its name might suggest.

Once you get over that name, you’d be greeted with some genuine Ducati DNA. Powering the SuperSport series is a twin-cylinder 937cc Testastretta 11° engine. This delivers 113bhp and a linear torque curve that peaks out at 96.7Nm at 6,500rpm. There are three riding modes on-board - Sport, Touring and Urban, which allow the bike to be set up quickly to suit personal preferences and riding skills.

The standard SuperSport boasts a fully adjustable 43mm Marzocchi forks and a Sachs monoshock. The better spec’d SuperSport S version comes with fully adjustable Ohlins suspension, Ducati Quick Shift system and a rear seat cowl. Both the bikes run on Pirelli Diablo Rosso R17 tyres - 120/70 at front and 180/55 at rear. The kerb weight (wet) of the SuperSport series is 210kg.

For safe braking, the SuperSport mounts a Brembo braking system controlled by the Bosch ABS 9 MP multi calibration system with an internal pressure sensor to prevent wheel lock and & wheel lift-up. This also helps in shortening braking distances and enhancing stability. The ABS system also features three-level adjustment.

Available in shades of red and white, the Ducati SuperSport series is available for purchase at all Ducati dealerships across India.
