Facelift Aprilia SR 160 spied ahead of launch

The updated Aprilia SR 160 scooter is what the Italian two-wheeler maker plans on bringing next. Similarly, we can expect the launch of the SR 125 sometime in the first quarter of 2022.

Aprilia India will soon bring in the updated model of its SR 160 scooter. A test mule of which has been spied already. Now, clearer images of the facelift SR 160 have been surfacing the internet given us an idea of what to expect from the upcoming scooter.

For starters, the headlamp design is all new. The new scooter will sport a sharper-looking all-LED headlamp. Expect new paint schemes and graphics with the 2022 model. The instrument cluster is likely to be a new unit. The SR range of scooters is likely to be updated with the instrument cluster on offer with the SXR maxi-scooters.

The changes are expected to be skin deep and the 2022 SR 160 will continue with the same mechanicals and cycle parts. The new SR 160 will be powered by the same 160cc single-cylinder unit. The power figures are likely to be the same as well. The outgoing SR 160 puts out 10.86bhp at 7,600rpm and 11.6Nm at 6,000rpm.

Along with the standard SR 160, Aprilia is likely to introduce the Race variant of the same. The SR 160 Race variant will most likely be equipped with a tweaked CVT which is more suitable for enthusiast riding.

New styling and more features could make the new Aprilia SR 160 slightly more expensive. The scooter may see a price increase of almost Rs 5,000 over the cost of the outgoing model.
