Hero Electric launches Optima ER and Nyx ER

The Optima extended range (ER) goes 110km in a single charge and is priced at Rs 68,721. The Nyx extended range can clock 100km in a single charge and carries a price tag of Rs 69,754. 

Hero Electric has now introduced extended range variants of their popular electric scooters – Optima and Nyx. Priced at Rs 68,721, the Optima ER demands about Rs 14,000 more than the standard version. The Nyx ER, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 69,754, and is roughly Rs 8000 more than its namesake. Prices ex-showroom Delhi. As far as riding range is concerned, the Optima ER can clock 110km in a single charge while the Nyx can do about 100km. The company has managed to increase the riding range of these scooters by fitted them with two batteries which power the 550W/1200W motors. Even with the additional battery, top-speed for both these scooters, 42km/h, hasn't increased substnatially from the standard troms. Charge time for the Optima ER and the Nyx ER stands at about 4-5 hours.

Speaking about the launch, Sohinder Gill, CEO, Hero Electric India said, “We want to offer the best of Hero Electric products to all our customers. One feedback that we have constantly received was the range anxiety associated with e-scooters, and with the Nyx ER and Optima ER we are addressing that issue and offering a package that is high on performance and usability. I am confident that customers will appreciate these additions alongside the FAME II benefits that have made our range even more affordable.”

At the launch, Hero Electric also announced future plans of the brand. The company currently has 615 touchpoints across the country but intends to up this number to 1000 by the end of 2020. With an intention to increase the focus in the southern market, a good number of these touchpoints will also be in the region. With the demand for electric vehicles on the rise, Hero Electric also plans to ramp up production to 5 lakh units annually.
