At its recently held post-earnings investors call, Hero MotoCorp announced that it will launch the Xoom 125R and Xoom 160 scooters in India in the second half of the current financial year. While India's largest two-wheeler maker Hero is already working toward improving its market share in the premium segment (Hero Mavrick 440, Harley-Davidson X440), it also wishes to strengthen its scooter portfolio with the launch of the Xoom 125R and the Xoom 160 in the country. Moreover, Hero is considering launching the revamped Xoom 110 in the first half of the financial year. In terms of updates, the 110cc variant of the Xoom could come with new colour options, among a few other cosmetic changes.
Hero MotoCorp showcased the Xoom 160 and the Xoom 125R at last year's EICMA in Italy. The former is a maxi-scooter which is an answer to the likes of the Aprilia SXR 160 and the Yamaha Aerox 155, whereas the latter is a sporty scooter going against the Suzuki Avenis 125, the Aprilia SR 125, and the TVS Ntorq 125.

Hero Xoom 125R: Specifications
Upon arrival in India, the Hero Xoom 125R will be positioned above the Xoom 110 in the lineup. Powering the sporty scooter will be a 124.6cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine mated to a CVT automatic. Compared to other 125cc Hero scooters, this engine makes more power but slightly less torque – 9.5bhp and 10.14Nm.
Features-wise, the Xoom 125R will offer segment-first sequential LED indicators and a fully digital dash along with Bluetooth connectivity, notification alerts, and turn-by-turn navigation. This scooter will be part of Hero's new premium product line and is likely to be offered through the network of Hero Premia dealerships. As far as its pricing goes, the 125cc scooter is expected to retail around Rs 80,000–85,000 (ex-showroom).
Hero Xoom 160: Specifications
On the other hand, the larger-capacity Hero Xoom 160 will come powered by a 156cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine, which has Hero's patented i3s stop-start technology and a silent starter, can put out 14bhp at 8,000rpm and 13.7Nm of torque at 6,500rpm.
Tipping the scales at 141kg (with fuel), the 160cc variant of the Xoom will get a standard telescopic fork/dual shock absorber arrangement, and will roll on 14-inch wheels wrapped in block-pattern tyres.
In terms of features, the maxi-scooter will pack in a fully digital dash, keyless ignition, remote seat opening, smart find, and two split LED headlights. However, it remains to be seen whether the scooter will feature Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. Price-wise, it could be around Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom).
