The KTM 390 SMC R has been spotted undergoing testing on Indian roads again, signalling its impending launch in the country. Unveiled at EICMA 2024, this supermoto is based on the 390 Adventure S and Enduro R platforms and shares the 399cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 45.3bhp of maximum power and 39Nm of peak torque. Designed for versatility, it features 17-inch wire-spoke wheels, long-travel suspension, and a lightweight chassis, making it ideal for both urban commuting and off-road adventures. Expected to be priced around Rs 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom), the 390 SMC R aims to carve a niche in India’s sub-500cc segment, offering enthusiasts a compelling blend of performance and agility.

A recent sighting of the KTM 390 SMC R test prototype on Indian roads indicates that its design draws heavily from the 390 Enduro R. Despite the similarities, it adopts 17-inch wheels – standard in the supermoto category – setting it apart in terms of dynamics. The model rides on wire-spoke wheels paired with tubeless tyres and benefits from an enhanced 230mm suspension travel, which the Enduro R lacks. Suspension components include WP Apex USD forks up front and a fully adjustable WP Apex monoshock at the rear.

Although the official feature list is yet to be confirmed, the 390 SMC R is expected to include a Bluetooth-enabled TFT display offering turn-by-turn navigation, calls, and message notifications. Additionally, it may come equipped with three ride modes: Rain, Road, and Off-road.
