Matter Aera Electric Bike With 125km Range Launched in India at Rs 1.44 Lakh

Matter has officially launched its first electric motorcycle in India - Aera. As of now, the much-anticipated Aera is available in two variants - the Aera 5000 and the Aera 5000+. The price of the Aera 5000 stands at Rs 1.44 lakh, whereas the Aera 5000+ is priced at Rs 1.54 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, India. Reportedly, the Matter Aera will be offered in four variants in the future. The other two trims - the Aera 4000 and the Aera 6000+ - will be launched at a later date. Pre-registration for the Aera e-bike will be announced soon across Indian cities, as per the Gujarat-based EV start-up. And, the pre-register pricing will be uniform across the country.

The Matter Aera 5000 and the Aera 5000+, on-sale variants, get a 5kWh battery that can go up to a claimed range of 125 kilometre. The in-built, liquid-cooled motor on the bikes generates 13bhp of maximum power. On the other hand, the to-be-launched Aera 6000+ will have a 6kWh battery with a claimed riding range of up to 150 kilometre. Interestingly, the Matter Aera is said to be the first-ever electric motorcycle in India that comes mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. The Aera (bike + battery) is offered a 3-year warranty.

Speaking of its features, the Aera motorcycle has a 7-inch LCD with a capacitive touchscreen, optional Bluetooth connectivity, a proximity-based key fob, a passive keyless entry system, park assist, OTA updates, progressive blinkers, and welcome lights. The Aera boasts of a contemporary sporty appearance, in terms of design.

The Matter Aera was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo in New Delhi. As per the manufacturer, the new motorbike is more than just a bike that intends to 'disrupt through tech innovations and lead the electric vehicle (EV) transition towards a sustainable future'.
