Royal Enfield Classic Redditch 350 ABS launched

This is the third Royal Enfield to come fitted with ABS in the last few months

In August, Royal Enfield brought in the Classic Signals 350 Edition – their first offering to be fitted with ABS. The company has since then started adding ABS to its 350 line-up – the Himalayan and the Thunderbird 350X have already been launched with the ABS. Now, the company has added ABS to the Classic Redditch 350 and priced it at Rs 1.52 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Royal Enfield Classic Redditch 350 ABS demands about Rs 6,000 over the standard model.

The Classic Redditch 350 is powered by the same motor 346cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor as the rest of the 350 range. This engine pushes out about 19.5 horses and 28Nm. This engine comes paired with a 5-speed transmission. The bike has been on sale in three colours – Red, Green and Blue.

Royal Enfield has never offered ABS in any of their motorcycles until a few months ago, but this sudden shift comes in light of the new regulation that makes ABS mandatory for all motorcycles above 125cc starting 1^st April 2019. With this update, the RE 350 is now on par with the Jawa offerings. Jawa has also launched ABS versions of the Jawa and the 42 at Rs 1.73 lakh and Rs 1.64 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

Royal Enfield isn’t the only manufacturer to make an early shift to ABS. KTM has recently re-launched the 200 Duke with ABS, Honda has brought in an ABS iteration of the X-Blade, Suzuki with the Gixxer and more. Expect all motorcycle manufacturers to install their motorcycles above 150cc with ABS within the next few months.
