Bajaj Pulsar CS400 is currently undergoing final stages of testing and will be launched around the festive season.

Team AutoX has spotted test mules of the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 doing the rounds around Pune. After being in the pipeline for over two years now, it seems the company’s first ever sub-400cc motorcycle is ready to hit the showrooms. Sources close to the manufacturer suggest that Bajaj is planning to launch the CS400 around festive season this year (September-October). Bajaj unveiled the Pulsar CS400 in concept form first at the 2014 Auto Expo. Since then, everyone has been waiting for the motorcycle to go on sale in the country. Bajaj engineers, however, seem to have taken their sweet time to develop the CS400. Thankfully, it seems the motorcycle has now reached the final testing stages and will be launched soon.

As can be seen in the spy shots, the CS400 looks almost identical to the concept model from 2014. There are a few subtle revisions, but overall the motorcycle’s appearance remains true to the concept – full marks to Bajaj for that. That being said, to save production costs, USD forks have been replaced with conventional forks in the production model. Other than that, the design of the motorcycle is largely unchanged from the concept. Design highlights include LED turn indicators, LED tail-lights and fully-digital instrument cluster and split-seats. Powering the CS400 will be the KTM 390’s liquid-cooled 373.2cc single-cylinder mill, but it will come with Bajaj’s digital triple-spark technology. The engine will be couple to a 6-speed gearbox. While the drivetrain is identical to the KTM Duke 390, we’re told the CS400 is going to be more of a relaxed tourer than an outright hooligan like the KTM. Disc brakes are fitted on both wheels while the CS400 will also have a dual-channel ABS on offer. The Bajaj CS400 is expected to be priced around Rs 1.7 lakh - Rs 1.9 lakh (ex-showroom), and will compete primarily with the Mahindra Mojo.
