Ultraviolette Shockwave

Ultraviolette has just introduced the Shockwave, an enduro bike, in India, alongside its debut electric scooter, the Tesseract. The Shockwave, priced at Rs 1.50 lakh for the first 1,000 customers, has generated a strong response from the market. Given the high demand, the Bengaluru-based company has extended the introductory offer to an additional 1,000 customers. Meanwhile, Ola, which has dominated the electric scooter market for quite some time, has now ventured into the electric motorcycle space with its Roadster X. While the Roadster X and the Shockwave cater to different audiences and are designed with distinct purposes in mind, here’s a comparison of these two bikes on several key parameters to help prospective buyers decide which one aligns better with their needs and budget.

Ola Roadster X India Launch

Ultraviolette Shockwave vs Ola Roadster X+: Powertrain

Ola offers its electric bike in two variants, and the Shockwave’s powertrain more closely resembles the higher-spec X+ model, which features a 4.5kWh battery. The 4.5kWh version of the Roadster X offers an IDC-claimed range of 252 kilometres. In comparison, the Shockwave comes equipped with a 4kWh battery and has a range of 165 kilometres based on IDC testing.

In terms of performance, the Shockwave can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 120km/h. The Roadster X, while slightly quicker off the mark, reaches 0-40km/h in a brisk 2.7 seconds and achieves a top speed of 125km/h.

Ultraviolette Shockwave vs Ola Roadster X+: Design

The Shockwave boasts an aggressive, rugged design that complements its enduro-focused purpose. The sharp lines, a high-beak front, a rally-style seat, and off-road handlebars, exude a bold, ready-for-action vibe, while two striking colour combinations—Electric Yellow/Black and White/Red—Shockwave make a strong visual statement.

The Roadster X+ distinguishes itself with a clean, minimalist design, featuring sharp body panels, a distinct rectangular LED headlamp, and a single-piece seat. While the Shockwave is built for tough durability and off-road adventures, the Roadster X+ is designed for city riders who desire a perfect mix of style and sporty performance.

Ultraviolette Shockwave vs Ola Roadster X+: Features

The electric enduro from Ultraviolette is packed with advanced features that set it apart in the segment. These include six levels of dynamic regeneration, a digital instrument panel, radar technology, and intelligent rider safety systems. The bike also has four traction control modes and switchable dual-channel ABS.

On the other hand, the Roadster X+ is equipped with a 4.3-inch LCD digital instrument cluster, offering a range of modern features like cruise control, turn-by-turn navigation via Ola Maps, and a reverse mode. It also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates for seamless improvements. The Roadster X+ also includes DIY mode, a digital key, and an advanced safety suite, with features like a tyre pressure monitoring system, tow and theft detection, emergency SOS and geo and time fencing.

Ultraviolette Shockwave vs Ola Roadster X+: Price

The Shockwave comes with a price tag of Rs 1.75 lakh, though it’s currently available at a special introductory rate of Rs 1.50 lakh.
