Yamaha XSR155

Yamaha has launched the XSR155 in India at an introductory price of Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The bike is built on Yamaha’s proven 155cc platform, which it shares with the R15 and MT-15, and has a distinctive neo-retro roadster styling. With the same underpinnings but a different styling approach, the XSR155 emerges as an ideal option in the premium commuter segment. It stands out with its timeless design combined with modern technological features. The aggressive pricing is expected to create a strong buzz in the market and intensify competition, particularly against other neo-retro models such as the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and TVS Ronin. Read on for more information.

Yamaha XSR155: Design and Features

The design’s key highlight is a neo-retro styling theme inspired by Yamaha’s larger XSR models. Key elements include a round LED headlamp, a teardrop fuel tank, and a flat single-piece seat. The upright riding stance promises comfort for everyday commuting, while a decent feature list, including a circular digital LCD console, adds functionality without compromising the old-school aesthetic. Yamaha offers the XSR155 in four colours: Metallic Grey, Vivid Red, Greyish Green Metallic, and Metallic Blue.

For customisation, Yamaha has introduced two official accessory packs for the XSR155. The ‘Scrambler Pack’ adds a rugged and adventurous touch with elements that emphasize off-road styling, while the ‘Café Racer Pack’ offers a sportier, more performance-oriented visual appeal.

Yamaha XSR155: Engine and Hardware

The XSR155 gets its 155cc liquid-cooled engine from Yamaha’s R15 and MT-15. The engine features 4 valves, SOHC, and VVA technology, producing 18.1bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm at 7,500rpm. It comes with a 6-speed transmission with Assist and Slipper Clutch.
