The refreshed Jaguar XE gets mild exterior design tweaks and a modernised interior. The list of features is now longer too. Prices range from Rs 44.98 lakh to Rs 46.33 lakh (ex-showroom).

Jaguar brought in its entry-level sedan, the XE, to India at the Auto Expo 2016. Nearly three years after its debut, the British carmaker has now brought in an updated version of their most affordable offering. The XE facelift starts at Rs 44.98 for S variant for both petrol and diesel version. The top-end SE versions of both diesel and petrol variants are again priced identically at Rs 46.33 lakh (ex-showroom). So what’s new in the facelifted XE?

Starting with the exterior, the XE now looks a lot sharper and leaner than before, thanks to the narrower headlights, redesigned bumpers, and the reworked front grille. The overall stance seems to be relatively lower too.

Inside, the XE now feels properly modern. Just like most other cars in this class, the XE also get three large screens for infotainment, driver display, and climate control. The XE features what Jaguar calls ‘ClearSight’ IRVM. This system essentially utilises the wide-angle camera from the rear bumper with feed displaying on the frameless IRVM to ensure better visibility for the driver. The XE also features wireless charging, drive modes, and more.

Powertrain options for the Jaguar XE facelift include the company's four-cylinder Ingenium engines. The diesel variants come powered by a 2.0-litre unit that is rated at 177bhp and 430Nm. The petrol variants are powered by a 2.0-litre unit too, and it produces 247bhp and 365Nm. Both the engines come paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, which sends the drive to the rear wheels.

The Jaguar XE will continue to battle it out against the likes of the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
