One of Audi's best-selling SUV models is back with a raft of visual changes and some top-of-the-line technology.

Out of the blue, Audi has officially unveiled the refreshed 2021 Q5 SUV. Straight off the bat, the new Q5 takes Audi's latest design philosophy to the next level with an all-new super-sharp looking front fascia, courtesy of a shallower & wider octagonal Singleframe grille. Thanks to the revised, bigger bumpers, the 2021 Q5 is 19mm longer than the outgoing model.

There are changes at the back too, however, the overall rear profile remains largely unchanged. Redesigned rear diffuser & exhaust tips, new side intakes on the bumper and an all-new light signature for the taillamps sum up all the changes made to the Q5's rear fascia. Speaking of taillamps, Audi has debuted its next-generation OLED lighting technology on the 2021 Q5. The optional OLED light unit is split into three tiles of six segments each, that allow different light designs and signatures from a single item of hardware. The new Q5 offers LED headlamps as standard and Matrix LED lighting is optional.

In Europe, the 2021 Audi Q5 will go on sale by the end of 2020 as the Q5 40 TDI with mild-hybrid (12V) tech. The standard diesel version will be powered by a 201bhp/400Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder motor, capable of hitting the 100km/h mark from standstill in 7.6 seconds. A seven-speed S-Tronic transmission & quattro all-wheel-drive will be offered as standard. After the 2.0-litre four-cylinder TDI, a V6 TDI and two 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engines will also be added to the 2021 Q5's powertrain line-up.

An upgrade of the erstwhile MIB 2, the 2021 Q5 gets advanced computing power, courtesy of the third-generation Modular Infotainment Platform (MIB 3). The MIB 3 can either be experienced using a standard central 10.1-inch MMI touch display or the optional high-resolution 12.3-inch digital display, part of the top-spec Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus.

Don't expect the new Q5 to arrive in India before next year. Although, once again, like most of Audi's new models, the Q5 will arrive with a petrol engine only.
