To compete with the new Ford Bronco for off-road buyers, Jeep recently unveiled an updated version of its flagship Wrangler SUV globally with enhanced capability, technology, and features. The Stellantis group, which owns the US SUV carmaker, debuted the newest Jeep Wrangler at the New York International Auto Show. The new Wrangler boasts cutting-edge technology, improved features, and a reworked design intended to give it a more attractive and contemporary appearance. The current generation Jeep Wrangler, which was introduced in late 2017, has now completed five years. With Ford's latest offering, the updated Bronco, Jeep has a serious rival in the global SUV market. As a result, Jeep now places a high priority on maintaining its flagship model.
2024 Jeep Wrangler: Exterior Design
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler has debuted with a range of exterior and interior improvements. Talking about the exterior, the off-road SUV features a revamped front grille. The automaker has retained the iconic seven-slot design, but the slots are now slimmer than before and finished in black rather than the SUV's prior body-colour scheme. Aside from the new grille, the carmaker has provided 10 different alloy tyre designs for the vehicle, ranging in size from 17-inch to 20-inch. The largest tyre size available for the SUV is a 35-inch.
2024 Jeep Wrangler: Interior Updates
Speaking of the interior, the most recent Wrangler model comes equipped with the Uconnect 5 system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard equipment. In contrast to its predecessor, the dashboard now has smaller rectangular vents below the screen in place of the circular climate control vents that were previously in the centre. The corners still have round vents, though, and the rest of the cabin has the same layout as before. The new Wrangler Rubicon X also features 12-way powered front seats, Nappa leather seats, a 9-speaker Alpine stereo system, built-in off-road cameras, and a stealth antenna integrated into the windscreen.
In the front row, USB Type C ports are provided as standard, and USB Type A and C ports are available for passengers in the second row. Models made for high altitudes have Mantis Green interiors. Added sound-deadening foam, thick carpeting, and acoustic front glass are added to the High Altitude Rubicon X and the Rubicon 392.
2024 Jeep Wrangler: Engine and Gearbox
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler's engine lineup, which includes 3 ICE engine options and the PHEV 4xe, remains unchanged. A turbocharged 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine with 270bhp of maximum power and 400Nm of peak torque continues to provide power for it. A 2.0-litre turbocharged plug-in hybrid engine is available for the 4xe, and a 3.6-litre V6 engine with 285bhp and 352Nm of torque is also available.
The 4-cylinder and V6 models come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, but other options include an 8-speed automatic. A 6.4-litre V8 engine developing 470bhp and 638Nm of torque powers the Rubicon 392. Additionally, the Wrangler 4xe powered by a 17.3kWh lithium-ion battery.
2024 Jeep Wrangler: Launch Timeline
The price of the new Wrangler is under wraps. Its bookings have been opened, and deliveries to dealerships across the US will begin in later 2023. The model will also mark its entry to India, however, exact launch timeline has not been made public yet.
