Toyota has recalled 969 Land Cruisers (FJA300) manufactured between September 4, 2024, and September 30, 2025, and 117 Lexus LX SUVs (FLA310) produced from March 6 to September 29, 2025.

Toyota has announced a voluntary recall in India for 969 Land Cruisers (FJA300) manufactured between September 4, 2024, and September 30, 2025, and 117 Lexus LX SUVs (FLA310) produced from March 6 to September 29, 2025. The most recent recall shows the brand’s proactive effort to mitigate risks and maintain optimal functionality of the cars involved. Though there are no reported incidents in the country as of now, the recall is a preventive measure to reprogram the Transmission Control Computer software. This software controls transmission performance, and updating it helps prevent potential issues while maintaining smooth and reliable gear shifting.
The most recent recall of the Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX models stems from a potential issue with their 10-speed automatic transmission. These units use linear solenoids to manage gear shifting. If a solenoid fails under specific driving conditions, the transmission control unit and engine ECU may not detect the problem. This can cause the transmission to over-rev in certain gears, potentially damaging the transmission and leading to a loss of power at high speeds. In severe cases, damage to the transmission housing may allow transmission fluid to leak and create an additional safety concern.

The problem can be fixed by updating the vehicle’s transmission and engine control modules. As part of the recall, Toyota and Lexus will notify owners of affected Land Cruisers and LXs. Owners of these cars can also reach out directly to their local authorised dealer for more information.
In India, the Lexus LX 500d and Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 are powered by the same 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel engine. Both SUVs feature a 10-speed automatic gearbox, and are underpinned by Toyota’s TNGA-F body-on-frame platform.
